Recently, an errant golf ball (slice) shattered the back window of my Jeep. The golfer left his business card. His homeowner insurance covered it in full. That's why we have homeowners insurance.

Good to see a golfer owning up to his responsibility having hit an errant shot.

Sadly, not all golfers are willing to do so.

what were the complete circumstances of the incident? Was you car in your driveway which is adjacent to the course? were you passing the course on the highway and struck? I often wonder what the course of action is if you're driving past a course with fairways parallel to the highway and a ball gets to the road and strikes a car?...

I park very far away......in a distant corner of the lot where nothing can hit it..........................no stray shot can hit my car.

 

 

Can U blame me?  The car isn't anything great, but I refuse to park where some diKKweed can possibly hit a slice into my ride.

I see you are one of those guys who has a car so fancy that you find it necessary to use two parking spots when everyone else requires oneb2_tongue.gif.  Like you, I park in a spot that is least likely to get hit by a ball.

diKKweed?

 

I doubt anybody that's hit a car on a GC lot or road intentionally did it. 

 

I'm surprised GC's don't do more to protect patron cars in their lots when those lots are close to tee areas or along the lines of fairways.

I had someone back into my car in the parking lot of a golf course  (not the same thing I know)   with a decent sized pick-up-truck with a trailer-hitch on it based on what the top of my hood looked like.

 

Someone saw the guy,  watched him take off,  and wrote the License plate #,  make/model/color etc.   

 

I called the police  (because it was certainly significant damage)  only to find out that since the guy who actually saw it didn't leave any contact info for HIM,  to confirm his "Story"  the police wouldn't dispatch their "Hit-and-skip" team for it.....

 

Very nice....  I was told there basically was "No witness"

 

 

It's nice to see that someone would own up to their accident.

Can't say I've been to a course where the parking lot was close enough to any part of the course where this could happen. Typically the tee's are heading away from the backside of the clubhouse. One has the 9th green of a par 3 course somewhat near the back edge of the lot, within 40 yds or so. But it's a 100y hole so hard to get squirrely there. The juniors and noobs that frequent that course usually can't hit it to the green and it's a lofty wedge shot for anyone out there practicing.

When someone does this, I'm always tempted to park across the line immediately next to their "precious" car.

 

I refrain because if they drove off and left my car sitting alone like that, I'd be embarrassed if anyone thought I was obnoxious enough to park like that.

After taking a peek around to make sure no one else is looking, I like to kick a nice dent in the door when I see someone taking up two spaces.  It's the little things you do that make life fun.

I live in NYC where finding parking can drive any person insane so if someone takes up two spots I make sure I go back to key the car after I find a parking spot (if its basically the direction I want to go).

 

...anywayzzz this year I hit a drive way left and it curved around a tree and I assume onto the road (I couldnt see) and hit a car because I heard the thud but none of the cars driving by turned onto the golf course so I assume they didnt care.

You are indeed fortunate.  Lots of folks would have just left your insurance to fix damage.  Seems as if personal responsibility is in somewhat short supply in our population these days.

My favorite course of action when someone takes up two parking spots is to back into a "spot" right next to them so my passenger's door is so close that they can't possibly open the driver's side door far enough to get into the car.  I only key a car when someone jacks the parking spot I am patiently waiting on.
