I just recently picked up my old clubs and then bought new ones after 8 years off.

I have been to the range alot and played none in a effort to build a nice swing and solid game.

I have a tee time Saturday to play my first round in 8 years and I am very nervous.......

Any advice???

Yes, no one really cares... ...about your golf game that is. Most people are so consumed with their own game they are often oblivious to yours. There is one exception. Slow play. Keep pace and have a great time!

and attitude. If you are having a bad day dont bring the group down. The second one of my buddies starts having a bad day I am sure to be having a good day and dont feel like I can enjoy it without feeling like im bragging or rubbing it in.

Also embrace the nervousness don't fear it.  You care, you are playing against yourself.  When I feel nerves start to spark I get a smile on my face.  I know that it is "on".

I love that nervous feeling. It means you're excited! That's one of the things I like about getting back into competitive play - recapturing that nervous feeling. Don't try to repress it, but don't let it get to you either. Enjoy!

When you re waiting to tee off try tossing a few golf balls up in the air / think of a song that makes you relax and play it over in your head .I like joe walsh's new Lucky that Way song / its on you tube and does the trick for me . If that doesn't work , hang out at the first tee and watch about 20 duffers tee off ahead of you . You ll laugh when you realize how bad we all look . Enjoy the great game .

Get a white belt.  Even if you aren't a tour player... Having a white belt screams 'TOUR READY'. :P

Seriously, just go have fun!  Who cares how you shoot.

Just do what comes naturally to you.  If your game goes south of what you remember from 8 years ago, so be it.  I took 10 years off and I'm I'm worse after a year of playing and practicing than I used to be.  So what?  My playing partners prefer my new golf game to the old one because they can beat me now.

      Nothing is assured and lots of talented young athletes in many sports fail to achieve greatness. as was said, injuries, growth, lots of things can come into play, And let’s let honest, over the years a few players have been branded “The Next Tiger Woods” and yet there is only 1 Tiger Woods. My initial point was if he can do a great breakout it may capture the attention of a new generation.  Back in the 70s it was Secretariat in horse racing, we also had Jordan in basketball and let’s not forget Tiger for golf.  Stories get people interested and I think golf needs a new story. I will pull for him and hope it works out but there are so many factors that come into play you just do not know, But I can hope.

      Day 127 (19 Apr 24)  -  Played in the Friday Men's group today.  While I shoot 82, it was a pretty solid round with 10 pars, 5 bogies and 3 doubles.  I really hated the doubles - but each one was followed by a par come back, so "accepting" the number has really begun to pay off and not letting it get to me on the following hole in thinking "I have to get that stroke back".
