Fairway wood comparison

How does Titleist PT 906F2 compare to Callaway X-Tour? (Both 13 degrees) My fairway wood is so beat up so looking into getting new ones soon. Tks.

906 are pretty tough to hit perfectly.....had 904 in my bag for about a year and thought about upgrading to the 906 but didn't see much difference....it's great for a low boring trajectory but very little forgiveness...the callaway x tour is probably a lot better.....I have been thrilled with both the cleveland launcher series and taylormade burner fairway wood....launchers are a killer buy right now....(never was a fan of cleveland golf until recently)...good luck

if the 975f is anything like that 906 then if u hit it well its great, just not forgiving. i dont even try to hit it out of the rough unless its fluffed up. i end up hitting thin a lot on the fairway also. but when its hit right the ball just flies.

I'm in a similar situation as you hypergolf.

I hit the TM burner 3 wood, and loved it. I'm deciding between that and the x-tour 3 wood. Anybody with any suggestions?

I bought a Sasquatch 4 wood about a week ago, because it was on sale and was the only 4 there...thought I would benefit from the extra 2 degrees loft over the 3 but I didn't like it, even after reshafting it from steel to a graphite adila it just didn't feel smooth to me. I traded it today for a hobore 3 wood, which I hit alot better than the hibore driver...now that one I plan on ditching for a burner soon.

As far as the original post I've only hit the callaway out of those two listed, I liked it.

I had the Titleist in my bag for about a month and I loved it. Very tough to hit but if you can make consistant contact it's a great club. As someone already said it is brutal out of the rough unless you have a good lie. I traded mine in for the Mizuno F-50 only because the 13 degree on the Titleist was a little too much so I went back to 15 degree.

Honestly, I haven't had much of a problem from the rough. It may be a clubhead speed issue, or the angle of attack (you have to go down at it a little more), but I've played it from the rough without much problem.

Obviously on a nasty lie where even a hybrid or iron would have trouble it won't work.

I'll agree with the previous poster that it does require some pretty good contact, as it's not very forgiving, but it's not built that way. It's built to be workable. Workable and forgiving are basically opposites in clubhead design.

I am a high handicapper looking for a 3 wood. I've tried Callaway X and Nike Sasquatch, both of which seemed pretty good for me. What would y'all recommend for a very forgiving 3 wood, hopefully one I can find for cheap?

Callaway Big Bertha, Taylormade Burner were both very very forgiving when I tried them...

Which V2 shafts are you using for your driver, fairway and hybrid? How many grams? How do they compare to Aldila NV? I don't really like the Aldila's but I heard V2 can be quite difficult to use especially with the borethrough... Is that true? Thanks.

The Sasquatch is not a bad option. Very easy to hit and I picked one up for about $100 last year when I got mine. I'm sure you could find a used one in decent shape for real cheap if you look around and a new one should not run you too much either.

I've got the 906 and it sails if you hit it perfect, I would however suggest the Cleveland Launchers as a good all around fairway wood and a steal at $99 with graphite

I've hit the callaway x-tour and the titleist 906f2 both with aldila fairway. To be honest they play and look quite similarly: small, heavy, low trajectory and unforgiving compared to most others. They do rocket off the face even with the smoothest of swings when hit well. Callaway has a slightly louder sound compared to the titleist thump. Tricky (for me) to get a decent carry off the fairway so usually off the tee.

I can't compare it to the clubs you've mentioned, but if cost is a concern I will tell you that I've been very happy with the MacGregor V-Foil. You can likely find one for under $50 at this point. I've been happy with the stock shaft, but even if you wanted to reshaft you would probably still come in under the price point of some of the other options out there.

I also am a believer in the Titleist. As was said before, Its a workable 3wd and not as forgiving as others. A players club if you will.

I have the Bobby Jones woods. I love them. Well, actually just the 5-wood. My dad got the 3/5 woods for xmas but he decided to stick with his f-speed's instead.

I love the Bobby Jones fairway woods. People complain because they are head heavy compared to the likes of a cobra f-speed or cleveland launcher comp but I think it makes it smoother. I personally think they are the best on the market.

I have both the Titleist and the Callaway clubs you mention. The Callaway is MUCH MUCH MUCH easier to hit.
