After I get my line on where to hit the golf ball and then proceed to hit. I either look directly infront of the ball on my line or one inch ifront of the ball on my line. I also do this with my driver. I dont look at the ball when I swing the club.

What is the correct aiming point on the ball. Is it different for everyone or is there a standard point.

Also what can be the downfalls of what I am doing currently. Thanks for the help.

I think it is different for different people. I see no downside to your current method if you are making contact as you wish. I used to look at the back-most spot on the line. Now I look at the front-most spot on the ball and I find I make better contact. I started this when I was having trouble chipping early in this season and it worked to improve my contact. So I started doing it with short irons and now it is with everything. When in a bunker, I look at the spot where I want the club to first enter the sand.

I do exactly as Rustyredcab.  Used to look at the back spot of the ball on the line, now look at the front spot of the ball on the line, and look at where I want my club to enter the sand on bunker shots.

Only difference is that on drives I look at a spot on the back of the ball slightly inside the line to encourage coming from the inside.

I think there's no wrong answer here.  There have been guys who advocate looking at different spots, most of them not actually on the ball, for different clubs/shots, and there are successful players who look at different spots.  Whatever works is fine IMO.

That s a good post from rusty When I'm chipping well not only are my eyes focus at the front on the ball but I an leaning forward with my weight and my head position feels right over the ball and eyeline is directly over the target line and in front of the ball Bunker shots I look at the point behind the ball where I want the bounce to enter the sand
