Tiger woods era over, the day of mcilroy has begun!

As much as i hate to admit it being a massive tiger fan i think it is safe to say that the 23 year old irishman is set to eclipse woods as the new face of golf.

Not only is he starting to dominate the game beating tiger and every body else but also he seems to be a sponsors dream, young number one in his sport with a young good looking tennis player for a girlfriend.

with all the stuff tiger has had going on over the last few years with divorces and affairs and all the rest of it mcilroy has come into his own winning 2 majors and 4 other tournaments on the pga tour.

i think within the nest 3-5 year mcilroy will be the new face of golf and tiger will live in his shadow until the day he retires.

Great golfer but not sure he has the personality to become a cultural icon the way Tiger did. In his prime he was well known to people that had no interest in golf. Time will tell but currently I don't think the same can be said about Rory. Tiger's massive fame still makes him the most recognizable face in golf. Regardless of how he scores I don't see that changing for a while.

Rory's on a roll for sure, playing the best golf over an extended period that anyone has played since Tiger's dominance began, but I think that Tiger still has lots of game left.  We'll see what happens this week, and then at the Ryder Cup.  I'm just not ready to anoint Rory as the best until he holds #1 for more than a few weeks at a time.

safe to say im eating my words, but i am also happy because as i said before im a massive tiger fan but i tihnk he needs to win a major to cement the comeback

Haha, at least you owned up to it. I think Tiger is still in his prime.
