Sorry if I am not starting all this off correct.

I have questions about buying new irons off ebay i hope can get a few answers.

I see a lot of new clubs for sale, most top of the line but seem to be selling for half the price of the store. Does any one know how to tell if they are real or just knock off's?

I have bought a lot of stuff off ebay, but there sure seems to be a very big differance in prices.

Thanks for any help on this i can get.

Are the clubs you're looking at new or used? That right there makes a huge difference. Many places also have blowout clearance sales of older models (such as the cobra s3 pro, which I recently purchased for $320). Also check the seller's rating and feedback, and their location (many sellers are local golf shops posting online, having a US address is a plus). Most importantly, use your noggin: If you see a brand new set of mp 64's selling for $500 on the bay, that's suspicious. Chances are, if it's too good to be true, it is. However a lightly used set of an older model of irons such as mp 59's selling for around the same price is more reasonable.

Thanks for the incite, I was looking at new, but settled on a set of used X20's for my son, he liked mine and hit them well.

But all the prices if you look seem to good to be true compared to a walk in. I know my way around ebay but all the big sellers have some one that is not happy with them.

Has anyone ever put a list of trusted sellers together, if so I would sure like to see it?

Thanks again for the reply.

Check out www.rockbottomgolf.com (for new gear) and globalgolf.com.  I've used both and have been pleased.  I got a hybrid from 2nd Swing that was better than it showed in the listing as well.

I agree www.rockbottomgolf.com is a fantastic site! Also, I recommend www.callawaygolfpreowned.com , I recently purchased a set of irons from them and they have great customer service. They sell all brands and often offer 20% off coupons. My sales rep even omitted the shipping costs for me.

Thanks for the reply, I have got a few things now from Rock Bottom and Pro Clubs. Not to pleased with the dudget golfer, I hit the wrong button and got a 3 wood that i tried to stop from shipping but they where to fast. If I send it back I pay shipping no issue there, but a $10 restock fee. I had ordered a 7 wood at the same time but found out the next day they where out of stock so I go an oh sorry we canceled the ebay order. Dont think I will order from them any time soon unless the price is really low and do not really care if i get it or not.

Live and learn I guess.

Thanks again.

If they are brand new, and especially if they are also the current model, and you see them for half price then they're going to be fake. Make sure you do your research and check the feedback of those you may buy from.

Just remember, if you think it's too good to be true than it probably is.

I just bought a Odyssey prototype 9 putter for $120, which retails for $270. Like someone already said, most these places are companies with real locations. Like any golf store or proshop they have to buy inventory. They have 12 of these putters sitting around. it is getting towards the end of the season and they need to make some money or they take a loss. I know in my area, every year, 8 to 10 of the local clubs/proshops get together and rent out the gym of one of the colleges. They reduce prices and on sunday the last day of the sale you can haggle, haggle and haggle. I have got a bag boy cart for $120 (priced at $175). I have got 3 volkey wedges $45, $65 & $69 (all retail for $109). but as was said earlier. Check the feedback on the seller. If you have someone who has a 98% satisfaction and has over 100 or 1000 sales. They may be reputable. Of course if you are sold a fake. Contact Ebay, and return it. The mere fact that it is a fake or a knock violates the terms of agreement and goes against what was advertised to you. Good luck!

In my Grom:

Driver-Taylormade 10.5 Woods- Taylomade 3 wood, taylormade 4 Hybrid
Irons- Callaway Big Berthas 5i - GW Wedges- Titles Volkey  Putter- Odyssey protype #9
Ball- Bridgestone E6
