The 2/3 swing is how I learned to hit the ball well. I noticed early on that whenever I punched out of woods (which was quite often) I made great contact - hands ahead, compressing the ball with downward contact. So, I decided to simply play that swing permanently.
The 2/3 - 3/4 swing is a very important tool IMO, you should def take the time to learn it.
I don't really have one right now. I prefer to be at 90 or 110.
With my old clubs, 100 was a perfect, smooth sand wedge (56). With my new set, I have a 54.5 and a 59, neither of which I have totally dialed in. But for now, 100 seems to be right between the two ... so I will try and hit the 54.5 at 90% or so.
I'd generally prefer to lay up to smooth P wedge distance, which is why I hit a lot of irons off the tee, but from 100 my go-to is a shot I picked up from Bubba Watson's Golf Digest short game segment: with my 56 degree wedge, I put the ball well back in my stance, open up a bit, take a 3/4 swing, and pretty much try to imagine hitting the top of the ball. I get a nice knockdown shot that skips once and stops dead, and having it in the back of my stance keeps me from chunking it, which is my most common short iron/wedge flaw.
