It's a good idea for beginners only if you can find it with a metal detector. Did some one tried?

Beginners tend not to lose a lot of golf balls (outside of the water or canyons or whatever) because they don't tend to hit the ball far very often.

Unlikely. Overall density is likely the same. They'll spin less though with a higher MOI.
