Lowering my ball flight...?

I'm in need of some advice as to how I can lower my ball flight.

The past few rounds I have found that I can't keep my ball flight down with my AdamsGolf Idea A2 OS (4-iron loft) 23º hybrid and it's really hurt my shotmaking. On windy days, my shots just seem to balloon and get hung up in the air. The shaft is stock (a Graffaloy ProLaunch-HL Blue shaft in R-flex). I love the club; it's very forgiving and great on short & tight par 4's. I hit it about 170-175.

My question is should I put in a new shaft with a lower trajectory? or Should I make a change in my setup at address (i.e. move ball position back in stance)?

Your thoughts and opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Quickest way to fix it is put the ball back in your stance. A shaft change might help a bit, but only if putting the ball back doesn't work (since putting the ball back in your stance is free, whilst a new shaft cost money...)

I am new here but I have a quick question. I got an 8.5 Burner driver and it still goes to high. I hit it well just don't like the ball flight all that much. What is the difference between the shaft in the regular versus the TP version? I read that the TP version promotes a lower ball flight? Will that work or do I need to try the TP club itself? Any help would great. Thanks

This may sound stupid, but some of it could be the ball your using if you use a certain one consistently. I know for my Dad when he uses the Nike One Platinum the ball goes a TON higher then when he uses a Callaway HX hot...It just balloons up there for him...

99.9 percent that's not the cause, but it could be contributing...

Burners go high anyway. You could try shaft options, or a different ball. Dimples make a difference from what i hear, but the club is meant to go high.

The high ball flight should be good.

Get it tested on a launch monitor to make sure it isn't ballooning up there. If it isn't, then it should be ok. If it is, try a new shaft or a harder ball.

To fix the driver you will probably need a new shaft with a lower kick point.

To me it's better the higher it goes. Higher it goes, softer it lands. But if your in harsh wind conditions try just playing it back in your stance a bit more, and think about hitting the ball low.

To fix the driver you will probably need a new shaft with a lower kick point.

A lower kick point will result in a higher ball flight.

To lower your ball flight you can do several things.

1. Place the ball back a bit in your stance.
2. Get a golf shaft in your current driver with a higher kick/bend point.
3. Shorten your back swing.
4. Get a lower lofted driver.

I personally play with a Rapture 12 degree driver and can hit it high or low depending on my back swing length and placement of the ball in my stance. I've also replaced the stock 909D shaft with a UST V2 MOI shaft with a higher bend point and less torque. This lets me hit the ball lower and much more accurate.

    • However, have you ever considered using small summer houses for such setups? They offer a great solution for creating dedicated practice areas, especially for an affluent audience looking to enhance their outdoor living space.
    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.
