2013 Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines Discussion Thread - Page 11

I'm surprised the pin is where it is on #13.  That is by far one of the easiest pins on the green... If Tiger carried that ball another 5yds... It would've funneled down to the pin as that pin is in a valley that runs down the middle of the green.  He could make this putt and go -19.

Are you watching this round?  The seven holes he played yesterday... He scrambled his ass off.  He has played even par today - and scrambled all day so far.

absolutely.  im saying that he has played it straight more than he has in the past, not that he hasnt shown awesome scrambling at all.

Seriously.  Let's not get too caught up in nitpicking on Tiger's swing and consistency to lose sight of the fact that he absolutely smoked a fairly decent field and is going to be 1 for 1 on the PGA Tour this year.

He must be doing something right.

Does Brad Fritsch not know how to hinge his wrist when pitching/chipping around the greens?  Maybe someone should send him Erik's quickie pitching video?

Yup. Even when he plays at 70-80%, he's still better than everyone else.

Agree on the irons - under Haney, his irons and short game did not leave him (not saying I like Haney). His driver had him in ridiculous places - which is why I said "The Scrambler" is back ... this week.

:-)

But when he goes into smooth push-draw mode, he hits fairways, and when he doesn't, he is not in poor shape. He doesn't appear to have enough draw in the push-draw.

He also looks more lanky.

WTF??  I went for a bathroom break, and he's lying 2 so presumably he pulled it into the hazard, but he's so far back!  I mean it doesn't even look like he reached the fairway.

His drive hit one of the gum trees on the left.  He snap hooked it into the trees... And it got knocked down into the ice plant.

His path on that drive looked neutral ... with a closing face.

To hit a push-draw, one needs to push...

He always has a slightly closed face, as he's in palmar flexion at the top.  His swing looks like he is swinging neutral to left.  Which makes sense because he hits a lot of fades with his irons.  So I think his path is off with the longer clubs.

Tiger's drives are all over the place, some of them so far off line he's hitting into spots I don't see amateurs get to when playing there.  If his scrambling wasn't so amazingly good right now Snedeker would about to be repeat champion.

This has to be the slowest round of golf on Tour.    3 hours so far for TW's group to play 8 holes.  Maybe someone should tell Tiger to "Play it Forward" to better be in the short grass and pick up the pace?
