Wrist Hinge in Takeaway? - Page 2

Ok I got you now, it is as if you are lifting the club off the ground vertically by hinging your wrists upwards.

I think I got this right. Its basically hinging the club up(horizontal) to you as you are going back in the takeaway?

"Wrist Hinge in Takeaway?" keeps the club in front loads and when you get to the top both your hands and shoulders are done. The arms don't climb, look at your swing in the mirror. Hinge and turn....

Sure the arms climb, the club moves upward more than the shoulders move upward. Look at Freddie Couples, his arms climb higher than Hogan's did, but they climbed up his chest.

Yes hinging does keep the clubhead outside the hands in the take away, i tend to have very little wrist hinge, it bothers me to feel it in the backswing. So i try to make it feel gradual in the hinge, not early on, this way its blended into the takeaway.

The arms certainly do load up the chest, if they didn't the left arm wouldn't get much higher than your belt on the backswing.  The wrists hinge and bend.  Hinge would up and down and bend is side to side.  The FEEL differs from player to player.  Ideally you want a good blend of both.  A common fault I see in a lot of golfers, especially with myself, is too much right wrist bend on the takeaway and not enough wrist hinge.  Leads to a few different compensations.

Couple drills I've done on this
