Yes hinging does keep the clubhead outside the hands in the take away, i tend to have very little wrist hinge, it bothers me to feel it in the backswing. So i try to make it feel gradual in the hinge, not early on, this way its blended into the takeaway.
The arms certainly do load up the chest, if they didn't the left arm wouldn't get much higher than your belt on the backswing. The wrists hinge and bend. Hinge would up and down and bend is side to side. The FEEL differs from player to player. Ideally you want a good blend of both. A common fault I see in a lot of golfers, especially with myself, is too much right wrist bend on the takeaway and not enough wrist hinge. Leads to a few different compensations.
