I'm a right hand player, and I've been putting left hand low since I picked up the game.  However, I never know exactly what position my right elbow/arm should be in.

Should my forearms be parallel?

Should my right elbow be tucked in close to my right hip?

Should my elbow be pushed out away from my body, like Jack Nicklaus?

What are you feeling in your setup or stroke while putting cross handed?

Depends on how you like the putt.  Do you like to stroke it with the left hand, right hand, or have "quiet" hands by moving the putter more with a body motion. (and yes I know what I just said ).  Body stroke, not referring to rocking the shoulders, which tends to move the head, but feeling the stroke generated from the top of your spine.

To be honest I haven't done that much research with left hand low and elbow locations but I would say the right elbow should be somewhere between "tucked in close" and "pushed out away from the body".  Elbows are probably pretty level with the left shoulder slightly above the right.

Here's a video to get an idea of what Furyk does

I putt left hand low and basically make my left arm an extension of the putter shaft and my right elbow is away from my body, like Jack.  But when I putted conventional, I putted with my right elbow away from my body.  IMHO, putting is the most personal of strokes and there is really no right way or wrong way to putt, what ever feels right to you.

If it were me, and I had a case of the yips and needed something to rid me of them, I would change anything and everything.  However, if you are basically a solid putter and just looking for some tweaks, try going left hand low but keep most of your other basics in place.  Just a thought.

    • Day 35, June 8. Before leaving for work this morning (yes, I'm posting this quite late relative to the practice), I spent 15 minutes practicing at home, into a net.  This time, it was primarily 9-iron (full swings), with some UW (full and half) and a few 6-iron.
    • Day 73: just some mirror work today. Working on feels for being open and getting the front shoulder down.
    • I'm liking this. Finally getting down hands in front of my trail leg pocket consistently at A6 with much better clubhead position (relatively not as tipped out). I can really pressure the shaft through impact with good face control  from this position and stay in balance. Won my first one v one march 5&4 against a 4 hcp who routinely drives it 35-40 yards past me in the men's club match play . Frustrated him with some solid iron play and air tight putting.
    • Day 279 6-8  Worked on low point control skills work tonight. will be doing this for a few weeks. Tonight was just trying figure out how to get low point forward.  No ball.
    • Day 8 (Jun 8 26) - Stayed the drill but added two additional irons (7i, 8i and 9i) - using Divot Board and hard foam balls - focused on tempo and purposed pause at the top….noticing how open the club is marking the board when I try to kill it and how much more square (and better distance) when I focus on these keys.
