worst swearing event i have been a part of in long time.

9th T - regular 4-some - 2 weeks ago - tight match 3 bets riding on front. me and my partner are both good in or close to fairway, first guy on otherside hit moonshot about 120 yards right...2nd guy full blood italian say need a good one here and proceeds to yank it out of bounds left...he proceeds to scream "F-you God"...that was awkward...i make no claims to be saint but somethings you just don't mess with. i was waiting for the bolt out of the sky....i know he got crossed between *you and GD....but it was a bad one!!

Whats funny is when you hear that loud  F%$^ makes you giggle, myself an occasional, aaaa shit. thats about all i will get excited about. heck my kids use "O snap" when they feel like expressing themselves.

I would have to say I learned how to curse from any Eddie Murphy or Richard Pryor movie growing up. My mom has never cursed around me but she never shielded me from certain movies either. I always thought it was hilarious.

After a bad shot I've been known to let a SOB slip. Lots of emphasis on the B word. Also an occasiaonal F__K ME. z1_censored.gif

I find that better than throwing or slamming clubs on the ground.

I let the curses fly all the time once I start hitting bad shots....the more bad shots I hit, the worse and louder the foul language gets and I will throw my clubs sometimes.  Not after the 1st. bad shot though, with me, it's a growing frustration around the course.  By the time I hit my 5th or 6th bad shot, thats when the clubs start flying and anyone within earshot gets to hear my bitching & moaning & every curse in the book.

Like the poster above said about the pro's missing a shot and it's thousands of dollars lost, I never really thought of that....my thinking many times is "I actually paid money to get this frustrated and pissed off"....I can't imagine losing a new car or something similar....I could NEVER go pro if that's the case, LOL

I'm really trying to control it though and be much kinder and gentler....it's a work in progress

I can't believe Mark Webie's meltdown didn't get honorable mention here. Unfortunately, the PGA managed to wipe every copy of it off the internet (how does one do that?).

After missing a 3ft par putt, he said something like, "Suck my c*** you stupid f****** piece of s***" crystal clear for the mics. I was watching it live, and I was spellbound, and the he pauses and I see him taking a breath and starting to open his mouth again, and it was like watching a train wreck. I was like, "Nooooooooooo!", and he goes for a second round, "You stupid f******* piece of f******* sh**...."  The commentators were silent. Priceless.

Myself, on the course I really don't curse that much. If I get mad I prefer to bottle it up and take it out on the next tee shot.

One of my all time favorites is Vijay at The Masters. Be warned, he goes a little hard here.

No worries, he took that stroke off later before handing in his card. a2_wink.gif

I don't mind swearing at all, but hate sulking. Can't stand playing with someone who's constantly dragging his lip around the course.

Yeah, the sucky baby routine can be a real drag but I think its more tolerable than the 18 holes of frustrated rage that some guys cook up. I little off-color venting after a bad shot is fine but when it becomes an all day misery display it can be a real downer. Easier to ignore or tune out a sulker than a rager.

I always get a good chuckle when I'm on a certain hole and I hear a random F bomb fly from another group on a green or two over.  It actually helps me reevaluate my game during that particular day because I think, "Hey, that guy over there is struggling just as much as me.  I'm not the only one."  Then that is usually followed up by a four letter word or two after my next shot.

One of my favorites is an off shoot of Bastard, "Son of a *****", i don't know why, but i got stuck on this one, i think i might have made it up, or i might have heard it somewere, it just stuck.

I don't tend to hell at objects, like a golf ball. I yell at my self more, i am more self critical, i am not that dillusional to think its the golf balls fault and not mine.

This sounds classic!  Wish I could have seen it.

Love it!  This cracked me up.

I typically don't sear too much, but I will definitely swear.  When I'm golfing, I usually go with the swearless swear like "Son of a!" or "Mother Uhh!"

No saint here at all, I use the "aaaa shit" a lot and would like to throw my club, like it was the clubs fault that i suck!

What is really funny, it seems that once every round my son is in the fairway, just as he swings a guy in the next tee or fairway lets out a big "F@#^ this, and he duffs it. Then I hear him say some other swear word, mostly under his breath but i can always tell what he is saying.

My last episode was nearly a decade ago when I played Forrest Hills at Augusta (GA).  I was joined up with another player and after a few holes of bad shots and lots of swearing on my part, I asked my partner what he did for a living.

He was a minister at a local church.

I apologized about my language and have pretty much kept any foul language under my breath since then.

Besides, I've figured out a long time ago that I probably will hit bad shots once-in-awhile and that was part of playing the game.

Golf is after-all a gentleman's sport.

I worked in the health care field and would cringe if I ever heard foul language by so-called professionals (ie doctors, nurses, techs) in the workplace or around patients.  Same really goes for any professional work area: what if your financial planner came to you during a visit and said "your portfolio is all ****ed up" or your cardiologist told you your heart is a piece of shit.

Just not the language you'd expect from a professional in most occupations.
