I'm playing a rocketballz driver set at 8*.  My swing speed is 110-115mph, which is borderline stiff/xstiff.  Currently it has the stock matrix ozik stiff shaft in and my launch angle is too high.  I went to GG to get fitted for a shaft and i must say that experience was terrible, they were absolutely NO help, seemed as though they just wanted to sell a new driver.

I'd like to hear some of your thoughts on shafts.  I'm leaning towards the Aldila Rip'd NV 65g S flex.

all thoughts are welcomed.

Thanks

If you have a 8 degree head and your ball flight it is to high it is the operator not the equipment.  A shaft is likely not going to fix it.

You are probably flipping the club at impact and adding loft.  I used to be able to hit moon shots with an 8.5 degree with a stiff shaft.  Now I need to add loft.

No doubt there are some operator issues, it's not like I'm hitting it crazy high, just higher than I'd like... Still carrying 280 just would like a more piercing flight. Thanks though

You may want to try out shaft with different flex profile (similar to kick point).  A shaft with stiff rating but with different flex from butt to tip can provide different ball flight in both trajectory and direction.  I used to use a Miyashaki S shaft with a 9 degree R11, low stiffness in tip which provide a higher trajectory that I want.

You can look at miyashakigolfshafts.com, go to one of their products and download the specification.  It has some explanation on the design and characteristic of graphic shafts with different flex profile.

I suggest you try out more, better with branch that have more selection on models with difference in flex design through out the shaft (not stiffness), such as Graphite Design, Miyashaki, Crazy...

Hope this help.

Just an update... i bought the Aldila Rip'd NV, put it in and i must say i was very pleased with the outcome.  Its like a whole new club, the ball flight was ideal (for me) and it added roughly 10-15 more yds not to mention it was a bit straighter.  May not suit everybody, but I'm liking it.

    • Day 35, June 8. Before leaving for work this morning (yes, I'm posting this quite late relative to the practice), I spent 15 minutes practicing at home, into a net.  This time, it was primarily 9-iron (full swings), with some UW (full and half) and a few 6-iron.
    • Day 73: just some mirror work today. Working on feels for being open and getting the front shoulder down.
    • I'm liking this. Finally getting down hands in front of my trail leg pocket consistently at A6 with much better clubhead position (relatively not as tipped out). I can really pressure the shaft through impact with good face control  from this position and stay in balance. Won my first one v one march 5&4 against a 4 hcp who routinely drives it 35-40 yards past me in the men's club match play . Frustrated him with some solid iron play and air tight putting.
    • Day 279 6-8  Worked on low point control skills work tonight. will be doing this for a few weeks. Tonight was just trying figure out how to get low point forward.  No ball.
    • Day 8 (Jun 8 26) - Stayed the drill but added two additional irons (7i, 8i and 9i) - using Divot Board and hard foam balls - focused on tempo and purposed pause at the top….noticing how open the club is marking the board when I try to kill it and how much more square (and better distance) when I focus on these keys.
