Just dropped my daughter off at the local cemetery.  Every Memorial Day, she, my Eagle Scout Godson, and a small handful of boy and girl scouts spend the morning placing flags on graves of veterans, some of which date back to World War I.  Although it's an early, somber start to the holiday, I'm proud to say that it's something she looks forward to every year.  It's also the subject of my avatar.

I hope everyone has a great day.  Lots of golf, family time, companionship, and fun, but I'd ask that we not forget those that gave their lives to help protect our freedom along the way.

David, this is great.  Love that your daughter does this and that she looks forward to it.  My son just "learned" (he's 4) about Memorial Day for the first time this year.

Me:  "Casey, what day is today?"

Him: "Memorial Day"

Me:  "What does that mean?"

Him "Soldiers died, and we put flags."

OK, so he's a little young for anything past that, but it's a start.

Everybody have a great (hopefully golf filled) day!  (I'm "stuck" with the family today so no golf ... but I think I'll get some practice in by dragging them all to mini golf :))

Amen to that.  Never let us forget the sacrifices that others have made to protect our way of life.

I'll say a prayer today for the Fathers, Uncles, Friends who forged through WWII and Korea and an additional prayer for those of my generation who fought in Viet Nam.

Two in particular (WWII and Viet Nam) told me stories that to this day bring a tear to my eyes for their gallantry and bravery. I was always humbled in their presence.

Our freedoms have come at quite a cost.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families that are in or have been in the military.    My only regret is that we don't do more for the veterans.

A big thank you to all of those that have served or are serving in the military.

From the land of perpetual cloudiness.   I'm Denny

    • Day 35, June 8. Before leaving for work this morning (yes, I'm posting this quite late relative to the practice), I spent 15 minutes practicing at home, into a net.  This time, it was primarily 9-iron (full swings), with some UW (full and half) and a few 6-iron.
    • Day 73: just some mirror work today. Working on feels for being open and getting the front shoulder down.
    • I'm liking this. Finally getting down hands in front of my trail leg pocket consistently at A6 with much better clubhead position (relatively not as tipped out). I can really pressure the shaft through impact with good face control  from this position and stay in balance. Won my first one v one march 5&4 against a 4 hcp who routinely drives it 35-40 yards past me in the men's club match play . Frustrated him with some solid iron play and air tight putting.
    • Day 279 6-8  Worked on low point control skills work tonight. will be doing this for a few weeks. Tonight was just trying figure out how to get low point forward.  No ball.
    • Day 8 (Jun 8 26) - Stayed the drill but added two additional irons (7i, 8i and 9i) - using Divot Board and hard foam balls - focused on tempo and purposed pause at the top….noticing how open the club is marking the board when I try to kill it and how much more square (and better distance) when I focus on these keys.
