Regripping...

How easy is it? I need new grips on my irons, and I'd like to just do it myself, but I didn't know if I would be able to line them up correctly and get them on the right way. I'm probably going to buy the kit on ebay with the tape, clamp, directions, etc. Thanks for input!

Im sure it cant be that hard, I think all you do is rip the old grip off, and slip on the new one. But there are allignment issues and such, maybe you can look on google on "How to regrip clubs"

Regripping is very, very easy. There are multiple website that have instructional videos showing how to do it.

If I can do it, anyone can.

i agree very easy, but i used a grip with no rib i think it would be harder to line a grip up if it had a rib in it.

I am sure it's pretty easy to do but I think Golftown charged me like $1 a grip when I got mine regripped. Then again that might be because I bought the grips from them.

Plus if my friends find out that I could regrip clubs they may want me to do theirs :P

Golfsmith Clubmaking Videos I re-grip my own clubs and also for a lot of my friends. It's not too hard but you should do some research before trying it the first time. This past year I re-gripped over 100 clubs. There are a few tools you'll really want to have to do a good job and not cause yourself a lot of aggrevation. Golfsmith, The Golfworks and other clubmaker sites online sell starter kits for re-gripping at a reasonable price. At a minimum you'll want to have: 1. Vise with rubber club vise clamp. 2. Grip Tape (I recommend the 2" wide tape lengthwise, it's faster and easier than 3/4" tape). 3. Grip Solvent. (I like Golfsmith's solvent, it's citrus based so it smells nice and is non-flammable). Don't use paint thinner, lighter fluid or other flammable solvents. If you use a catch pan, you can re-use about 90% of the solvent. I re-gripped over 6 full sets of irons with less than a quart of solvent by reclaiming the excess solvent. 4. Utility knife with hooked blade. This will make getting old grips off a lot easier. 5. Grip tape removal tool. This one is optional but makes getting old tape off of shafts a lot easier. Almost a necessity for graphite shafts unless you want to scratch the shaft paint. Here's some pictures of my gripping setup and tools: Gripping Tools Gripping Station If you use a vise and vise clamp, make sure you line up the leading edge of the club exactly vertical in the vise. When you slide on the grip, make sure the alignment marks on the grip (yes, they all have them) are in line with the leading edge of the club. If you do that, the grip will always be on straight. You have about 15-20 seconds after you slip on the grip where you can "nudge" the grip to adjust any minor misalignment.

All you need is :
Double sided masking tape
Mineral Spirits
Vice and Rubber Vice Clamp
Grips
and a box cutter

1.) Put the shaft in the vice in the clamp
2.) Take of old grip and grip tape w/ knife
3.) Put new tape on the shaft
4.) Put mineral spirits in the grip slosh it around in it and using the little hole on the bottom drip it over the tape (you can reuse the mineral spirit if you catch it in a paint tray)
5.) Slide the grip on and let it dry overnight
