I am having a hard time getting my driver to get up in the air.. All of my drives seem to fly a few feet above the ground then die out at around 180 yards, i end up getting maybe 200 yards with roll.... ive hit this driver good 2 times - where I made it past the 200 yard mark.... Shockingly one of those hits was 270 - with a good roll of course...

EVrything else seems fine with the driver - i like the feel of it and i hit it very straight....

Could it be the loft? Its a 9.5 - but I have a slowish swing speed - around 89-95 - Would a higher loft benefit me??? or could it be the shaft? im using the stock taylormade shaft...

I was looking into these drivers

cobra f speed
taylormade burner
callaway x 460
nickent square

I hit the cobra and the nickent in a simulator - i felt like i was crushing the ball every time... very good contact- the other 2 i hit into a net.. i was making good contact but who knows where the balls were reallly going????

Anyway - what would benefit me more - more loft or a different shaft???

Thanks in advance!

Stock TaylorMade shafts are flex aren't they? I think they are but I could be mistaken. If they are indeed flex and it was the wrong shaft for you, you would be hitting way up. So I don't know that a stiffer shaft would help. If the shaft on that club was stiff, then a flex would probably help you out. The loft should be fine. More of it would help bring the ball up some but 9.5* and 10.5* are normal lofts for a driver.

The shaft is a regular flex.

I never really had this problem with my old driver - callaway ft-3 with aldila stock shaft. shots would get a nice trajectory- unfortunatley i broke it....

I tend to read alot - magazines, forums and alot of people say that with a swing speed in the low 90s you should be using a 11-12 degree driver head.....

What else could effect the trajectory>? could the tee height play a big roll in it>?

Yes unless you are compensating for it on your own. Typically for a driver, ball off your front foot and teed high. I always use a good measure being when you line up, half the ball should be sitting over the driver.

You're setup correctly then. Honestly I don't see the extra degree of loft making a huge impact, but it would forcefully help some. My next thought is perhaps you are standing up a bit when you hit the ball which could lower trajectory, but since you've been hitting good with your old drive I'm kind of at a loss.

You could be hitting slightly ontop of the ball, try a steeper swing plane and making sure you make contact. what i always think is pretend its like a hockey slapshot, hitting through the ball.

its hard to tell without seeing your swing but I actually have the same problem. I'm a strong player so my swing speed makes up for the poor swing but I have a problem hitting the driver on an up slope. I have a very steep attack with my irons and on poor driver days I find myself almost hitting down with the driver. I hit the ball straight but its very, very low. I have a swingspeed of 108-110 so I get a decent amount of distance with the mishit but it makes me think how much further I could be hitting the ball.

Judging by your swing speed regular flex should be fine. Try hitting a 10.5 degree driver. I use to hit a Callaway 9.0 degree driver with a low trajectory. I was so inconsistant, low snap hooks, i hated it. I'm now hitting a 10.5 degree driver and the results were great. A medium to high trajectory with a little draw. Try it see what happens

The Big Bertha 460's nice; I just got that over the Burner and Superquad. HiBore is another good one, along with X460.

I just got a Titleist 905R with a stiff shaft. I hit my 7 iron about 160, but I like the stiff shaft on my driver and it helped me become more consistent.
I've hit Nike Sumo, TM R5 & R7, and HiBore. After a month of hitting drivers, I selected the 905R. Plus they are on sale right now so it won't break the bank.

I did hit the Callaway ft-i....That is the best driver I have hit, but I can't see my self paying $499 for a driver right now.
