Ugly Round - average score

Nearly every shot was just plain ugly, slices, chunks, short....yet  score was about the same. Putting was not bad, and I chipped one in so I guess that's what accounted for the not so bad final score. Still  a very gruesome day!  Some days are like that, nothing will work. I know a few guys (myself being one of them at times) who would benefit from striking the ball, then closing their eyes, and opening them up to see where it ended up.  As in, the ball flight isn't important but where the ball ends up instead!  Take your round as proof. Hehe.

Been there many times.  It's almost as bad when you feel like you had an excellent day but the score says otherwise.

I think we tend to feel like we did better on days with good ballstriking rather than days when the ballstriking is weak and maybe our short game is more on point; so it feels like we did better/worse than we did.  Can't underestimate the putting game.

This season the scoring difference in a "bad" round vs a "good" round have really tightened up for me. I attribute it to two things:

1) my misses aren't as bad as they used to be.
2) I'm better at staying in the game mentally. A blow up hole doesn't necessarily turn into a blow up round.

Always disregard bad shots as flukes as opposed to a representation of your ability and you'll score a lot better

Since all of my shots are bad I have a LOT of flukes. (Just joking, sort of). a3_biggrin.gif

I really don't hit very many shots that I am really happy with (except for some of the shots to get out of trouble) but somehow manage to get around the course with a decent score most of the time. The short game and getting out of trouble are the only consistencies in my game.

Or how about those days, when you hit the ball good, but your score just doesn't show it. It happens to me all the time, usually because of 2 or 3 blow up holes.
