This was my swing a few months ago. I have since slowed it down a bit. Only with the driver do I swing extremely hard and fast. Its a bad habit but at the same time, I have found if I do not swing that hard, I will repeatedly slice or push the shot. I have no problem with my irons anymore. Not perfect but its more just a matter a practice and honing with each iron, than actual mechanics. Driver and 5 wood are where I would like help.

You have essentially no hip turn and your shoulders seem to be over rotating at the top. To save your back you will need to change this. Also look at the "myth of maintaining address flexion in rear knee" thread.

  • 9 months later...

So over the past year I have really corrected my swing. Have been hitting a nice draw, lowered my handicap and have been pleased. Given the fact my playing/practice time has decreased due to work and personal life, I am pretty pleased...until this past month.

I am in desperate need of help right now. There is a lot wrong with my swing and game right now and I am afraid I am developing bad habits. I have noticed I am no longer comfortable upon address. I feel very uneasy and I am really struggling with my balance. My iron an wedge play use to be my strength an my tee shots were my achilles' heal, but now its reversed. I am hitting my driver and woods fine and probably the best I will ever be able to so not worried about that. But my irons have gone to complete shit.

I have noticed with my irons I am producing an unusually high push/slice. I am not hitting the ball clean and just in absolute disarray. I dont know if its my ball placement, grip, swing speed, stance or just probably my swing as a whole. But its bad. I shot the worst round in 5 years yesterday; all while hitting a good bit of fairways with my driver or 5 wood. I even putted halfway decent. It was all on my irons and wedges.

My wedges were hit fat. And not just fat but pushed right significantly. My irons were not sliced but just flat out pushed and extremely high. Then on occasion they were just completely topped or snap hooked. The weirdest thing about this sudden case of the yips (if you wanna call it that) is I have developed a horrendous blister on my left index finger underside below my middle joint. I have really made sure my club is gripped in my fingers and have not changed my grip in awhile so that doesn't even make sense.

With that said, I would like some help. I am very open to any and all constructive criticism and feedback. I will be putting up a video of my swing later this week when I have a chance. Thanks guys.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but… the best way for any of us to help you is with video, even pictures. Your own feels and thoughts are important, but they don't tell the whole story. Probably not even half.

You got advice last year and didn't respond.

So my advice? Use this thread as others do: post swings, listen to and engage with the members who give you feedback and offer you advice, and work diligently.

Your swing is probably almost identical to what it looked like last year. So, that in mind, look here:
