It is my understanding that offset hosles allow the slicer more time to square up the club face. I have a set of Cobra S9 irons and I can see they have progressively more offset from SW to the 4 iron. I'm back to a strong right hand now trying to prevent from rolling my wrists too early prior to impact.

Some of the best irons I've ever played with was a set of Golfsmith Professional Grind blades that I assembled myself - really sorry I ever let them go. Just wondering if offset irons are problematic for us "quick wristers"? Thanks.

According to the guys at GolfWorks, the benefits of offset are:

  • Useful at set-up, visually helps get hands forward ... (probably more helpful)
  • Allows golfer to square clubface a split-second earlier... (Some help, but won't fix a shaky swing)

You would need to get on the launch monitor and see if you tend to have a lot of pull and hook misses. If you're handsy, a thicker grip can take some of the left action out of your shots. Offset normally a minor factor in left problems.

True Alignment : check if you are lining up with the clubface at the angle you think it is. If you have square tiles or equal-width wood strips on the floors at home, use the seems to check your alignment. People who go from high to low offset, or the other way,  may need to retrain their eye for what proper alignment looks like. (I figured this out as a problem when I went from SGI to GI irons).

Focus, connect and follow through!

I had offset irons (PING G10's), and I hated them. I mean truly and totally hated them. Not a strong dislike or irritation, but outright hatred.

Instead of buying a used set of Callaway Diablo irons for something different, I just bought a good looking set of used Mizuno MX20 irons - duh.  I used to have a set of Comp EZ irons and regretting selling them - I think. I'm looking forward to hitting these MX20s.
