I just found in my closet three dozen new Slazenger Raw Distance golf balls that I had gotten for Christmas.

I wasn't even aware that Slazenger still made balls, but I guess they do.

Does anyone use these...and if so what is your opinion?

I am hesitant to use them because the last time I used an off brand ball (Pinnacle, I think) I split two of them in half while driving off the tee.

I ordinarily use a titelist NXT Tour which is a softer ball so I am thinking these will give me more yardage if I don't break them.

Any thoughts?

You either have a 200 mph swing speed, or the balls just so happened to be defective/damaged to begin with. I can assure you that you will not break a ball that is not compromised in some fashion.

The balls are 3 dozen for $25.00 at Golf Galaxy and are primarily a distance ball. It is a 2 piece ball and you should not expect it to compete with the NXT Tour, which I'm sure you're already aware of.

All in all, it's a decent ball to play when it is extremely wet out, or if you're having a really off day and are at risk of losing more expensive balls. Other than that, it's a rock-flite...

Found one the other day, I think it was a Raw Distance, not sure how extensive the Slazenger line is. Horrible feeling ball and I ain't picky...

Yours in earnest, Jason.

When I first started golfing I bought 6 dozen for $50.00 from Golf Galaxy. When I "moved up" to a DT SoLo I began having much more fun. It's a great starter ball, or like I said; a ball that you don't mind losing on a high risk hole, or a good water ball for a practice/casual round.

For two seasons, I played the Slazenger Raw Distance Tour version.  (mid-spin ball, a lot like TopFlite D2 Feel).

At a couple of months, I bought a dozen plain S.Raw Distance for a try. I went 54 holes with only two up-and-down pars. Went back to RD Tours, and had three up-and-downs on the first nine.

But, The RD Tours got discontinued.

Unless you have fairly high clubhead speed, the regular Raw Distance may "keep on going" on chips and partial wedges.

Focus, connect and follow through!
