Nominal for a "Rescue Hybrid" that is 3-18*?

I get tired of calling it a rescue only to be asked what iron, saying I guess a 3 iron, then hearing "so is it a 4 or a 5 wood?"

Club in question is a Taylormade burner 3-18* rescue club.

I've done research on this before but have just now come across that a hybrid from 18-20* can be called a 5 wood?

TaylorMade calls their hybrids "Rescues"

It's a 3 hybrid.

At 18° it has a loft like a 5 wood but has a smaller head a shorter shaft than a typical 5 wood.

Its a hybrid, so call it a, "3-hybrid".  Its not a 5-wood.  A hybrid is a hybrid, a wood is a wood.

Most TM 3-irons are 18*, so I would call it a 3 iron. The RBZ 5 wood is 19*, so if people ask, you could say 4 or 5 wood, I guess.

I had a Taylormade Burner 5 FW, and replaced it with the same 3H as yours (but lefty). It gets about 10% less distance, but is a lot easier to hit reliably.

Isn't this club great?

18 degree hybrid(or utility or rescue). The iron number system has gone to the dogs in the first place, since a 3 iron can be anywhere from 16-22 degrees these days. Hybrids designed to replace them therefore can't really be numbered without the same ambiguity. Plus they can be anywhere from iron length to just under fairway wood length these days.
