Club lengths keep changing over the years. They are getting longer due to a couple of factors, weight and manufactures trying to make clubs go further. Have a look on golfclubshaftreview.com where they have a club length page.

I think you're asking "how do they measure shaft length", right? If so, I believe this is how it's done: they take the club and set it so the sole lies flat on the ground. Then they run a measuring tape from the top of the grip (the butt) down the back of the shaft to the ground. That distance, from the gound to the butt, is the shaft length.

Bag It:

3-Wood Wishon 525 F/D, 13*, Matrix Studio 65gm, Golf Pride Dual Compound
Hybrid: Wishon "321", 24*, MSF 85 HB, Winn DSI
Irons: Wishon 770CFE, Matrix Studio 74gm, Winn DSI

Putter: Odyssey DFX 2-Ball

Bag: Some big, honkin', ridiculous overkill of an Ogio cart bag with more pockets than I have teeth.

This illustration shows club length, but you need to know what the finished club length will be to get shaft length right.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.
