lugging toward ball during take away, jumping during downswing

Hi all

i started play golf a year ago. just recently i realized i tend to lunged toward the ball when i do my takeaway and i shank it badly, i move my club with my left shoulder and try to slow down my upswing but this doesnt seem to help, and also, i tend to "jump" when i hit  how can i correct this?? please help

Just something simple to check.  Make sure your chin isn't up in the air.  Tend to see golfers with the chin up, eyes up, move their head excessively down during the downswing in an effort to see the ball.

BINGO!!! come to the realization last night on this. I did this a ton, and i still have the habit. I am not that bad, but when i lowered my head last night, my ball striking was much better, and my head didn't shift left or right as much as well. It really let me zero in on the ball. Also, i think it helps keep the inclination in the back. Because, usually when i swing i have to shorten the swing to keep myself from swaying to the right. With the head down, it just freed everything up to rotate better.
