Withholding my tax? No.   Withholding my semen? No.   Withholding my shoulders? YES. Truthfully i am able to think of one thing only with the club in my hand. If i can withhold my shoulders from coming around so fast, and withholding my shoulders so my hips can start to move first, the result is much improved.  Over time i suspect this keeping the shoulders back will start to become the normal part of my swing, which will be good.  Some would call this action 'separation' of hips and shoulders and i won't disagree. It's just my way to achieve the separation at the correct moment.

I've not used a particular word, but I focused a few range sessions on being "patient" with my upper body.  I used to really crank my shoulders around as soon as they hit the backswing and couldn't hit a right to left (or straight) shot to save my life.  Now, when I'm being patient (or "withholding"), I can reliably hit a straighter shot and even hit a draw with the right setup! This, paired with getting the takeaway right (I sucked it way too far inside before) has made my ballstriking this year a lot better.  Hard to quantify in specifics but I've gained at least a half a club, as well as the ability to hit a draw now.  I also don't have to swing as hard to get that additional distance!

I have kind of the same swing thought for success. I call it keeping my lead shoulder strong at impact. Basically the feeling of stopping my left shoulder. If I overdo it a hook will sometimes crop up. For the most part results are much better than letting the shoulder fly open. If u stand at address and rotate your left shoulder u will see the Club face open up ...slice position.
