My Swing (Mr Smell Good) - Page 2

Duck feet 4 life! 20 - 30 degrees front foot, 10 - 15 degrees back foot is a reasonable guideline. Like this ... a2_wink.gif

My Swing (Mr Smell Good)

A recently downloaded golf app (V1 golf) allowed me to analyze this swing with my 3 wood in slow motion and get some screenshots.  Here are 4 screenshots at different positions with some questions.  Keep in mind i'm a bogey golfer. I get about 240 out of my 3 wood.  The main point I'm trying to make with this thread will be right here in bold - does anyone else find that their biggest swing issue is not getting full extension and proper follow through?  If so, how did you work on that or what drills do you recommend?

Here is my position as I make my first move coming out into the downswing.  As you can see, my head is in good position. I never have a problem moving my head.  My left arm looks good, yes?  Is my right elbow too far away from my body?

Here is the next spot as I am in the middle of my downswing.  I can see my weight is starting to get forward and my left and right arms both look pretty good here in my opinion.  Any major issues yet?  Maybe not enough leg involvement?

Here I am a moment before impact.  This is the first time my left arm starts to bend, although not much.  My right arm is now straightening out but still remains slightly bent.

And here is the impact position.  Now I really don't like what I see on that left arm.  Does anyone else find that their biggest problem is getting full extension at impact?

I would agree with the bolded part.  Just a couple examples.  Turning the left foot out more would help give the left knee more room to flex forward longer.

Thanks for the reply Mike! I was hoping you would comment.

Perhaps turning that left foot out more and getting more knee flex forward would create more lag and start to help the problem?  When I was getting a lesson recently the pro recommended left-arm only swings as another potential fix because i'm pushing too much with my right arm.

Yes more weight forward will help not release the wrist angles so soon.  Turn that left foot out more and really feel like you "load" into the ground.

I may be crazy but the club face looks super closed at the top.

Honestly I've never once thought about what the club face looks like at the top

That's good, because that way lies madness.

But you still haven't turned your lead foot out either?

Apparently not??

I thought I did.  Perhaps I did when I was thinking about it and I did not when I wasn't thinking.

Yeah make sure it's turned out 25-30 degrees.  Also turn the right one out 20 degrees.

Do you happen to know a drill for a specific swing issue i'm having?  When I hit my wedges and irons everything seems all good but the longer the club (very much more pronounced with the driver) I can't seem to keep my right shoulder down.  It's always coming way up almost level with my other shoulder.

For example, here is me vs. Tiger at impact.  This was me when I was focusing intently on keeping my shoulder low.  Notice how even with all my focus on that it's still nowhere near his angle?  I have no issue with this until the clubs get longer because the driver swing feels nothing like an iron swing to me.
