Hi there.

I should be grateful if anyone who is currently using a Ping G25 Hybrid, could give a rating  out of 10 for the following:-

-  Off the tee

-  From the fairway

-  From the rough

-  Ease of launch

-  Straightness

Many thanks,

Stuart

I tried the G25 when in search for a new hybrid.

I ended up liking the Mizuno JPX 825 better

but that mostly came from looks. I personally didn't

like that mat finish.

And i liked the Mizuno better out off the rough. think this is caused

by the shape. the mizuno comes easier through heavy grass.

But on the other parts it is a very good club.

it easily scores 9 on tee, fairway,  launch and forgiveness ( better word )

as for rough i must get it lower because the mizuno performs better but still

reaches a 7.

Dirver: Mizuno JPX 825 9,5 Fujikura Orochi Red Eye Stiff 65 g.
3 wood: Mizuno JPX 825 14 Fujikura Orochi Red Eye Stiff 75 g.
Hybrid: Mizuno JPX 825 18 Fujikura Orochi Red Eye Stiff 85 g.

I also tried the G25 hybrids when I was getting fitted for my G25 irons. I hit them ok, but did not like the feel or the sound when hitting them. I ended up keeping my old Adams A3 Boxer hybrids for 3 and 4 because I can hit them well, but tried the new Adams Super S hybrids and really liked them. Because I have trouble with my 3 wood, I ended up getting a Super S 1 hybrid which hits the ball long and is really easy to swing and is the same loft as my old 3 wood was.

I play G25 hybrids.  I find them to be easy to hit which was my number one goal.  You are generally hitting a long shot you want it to be as consistent as possible.  I also liked the new Titleist

I play one instead of a 3 iron, this club is very easy to hit no matter where i have used it I like the sound and the mat finish. I also like the balance, i feel it fits right with my other G25 clubs.

So for me it is a 10 out of 10.

I have a 3i replacement as well.  At first I didn't like it, it felt lighter than my g25 irons, so I would try to overswing it.  Once I slowed my back swing down and remembered to take a short backswing with it, it goes like a rocket.

I don't get as much height out of it as my 4w, but I get a predictable ball flight out of most conditions (rough, fairway, etc.)

In my bag:

some golf clubs

a few golf balls

a bag of tee's some already broken the rest soon to be

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water

I dont get a lot of height either but, but you are right it is very predictable. I also play a G25 4 wood, dont use it a lot but they are a good combo in my bag.

I was deciding between the Ping G25, Exotics XCG6, and the Titleist 913 hybrid.  I went with the Exotics XCG6, I suggest you go and try it out. Tour Edge makes the best hybrids IMO (Tour Edge makes Exotics), also it's not that expensive.

Thank you all for your responses.

I was in the Pro Shop yesterday and had my first look at the G25 hybrid and was quite surprised as to how small the head was. I will have a trial with it and see how I get on.

Hope it works out for you. My only advice is to try all of them that you can and pick based on multiple trial then by swinging only one. When I went to buy my irons recently, I had my mind set that I wanted the JPX 825's, but left my mind open and said that I would try a bunch of different ones until I found the right club. I ended up with the G25 irons 5 - LW and could not be happier with them, but for hybrids I just liked the Adams better. Not at all to say I did not like the G25 or hit them well, just a bit better with the Adams.

I have a G25 23* that I like much better than the Callaway it replaced.  However, I find that I hit surprise snap hooks with it from time to time (a problem I also had with the Callaway, but there is was more consistent).  I just swapped it out for my 4 iron today and plan to leave it out of the bag until the weather cools off in the fall and going to the range becomes a bit more pleasant.  Then I feel confident I can sort out the swing I need with the hybrid and it'll go back into the bag.  I really like the look and feel, and when I do it right I hit it quite well, but right now it is getting me into more trouble than it's getting me out of.

This thread is a couple months old, not sure if you went for the G25's or not but here are my thoughts. I have a 20 & 23 degree. 20 is great off the tee and works well off the fairway, good distance and I get a lower ball flight. Good distance and accuracy, just don't over swing it and it goes pretty straight. 23 is really good as well, and I use it more out of rough, fairway bunkers,, etc. Also very good off the tee or fairway. Same deal as the 20, just swing smooth and it works well. Tend to get into trouble with hybrids, and G25's are no exception, when I try and swing too hard.

In my Sun Mountain 14 Way Stand Bag:

Driver - Ping G30 10.5* : Fairway - Ping G30 18* : Hybrids - Titleist 915H 21* & 915 H 24* : Irons - Mizuno JPX 850 Forged 5 - GW : Wedges, Vokey 54.14, Vokey 58.12 : Putter - Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport 2 or Ping Craz-E-R  : Ball - Bridgestone B330RX, Cart - Cliqgear 3.5

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
