Im 28 started golfing at 25 with a couple of friends, the friends did not take to golf like I did. I love It, the thing I want to know is how long did it take you to hit the ball consistently. Im not talking about direction, just to hit the ball solid. never taken lessons just a youtube swing .

I've been playing for 9 years and I still don't hit the ball consistently.

I could hit the ball "solid" the first time I ever hit a golf ball and just as long as I can hit the ball now but a lot of them were "solid" hooks that were as likely to end up in an adjoining county as on the golf course.

But I've been hitting things my entire life from the hundreds of baseballs a day in my batting cage, to driving pins at work all night with a sledge hammer, to standing in my yard for hours on end with a broom handle hitting gravel or BBs down into the woods (just to pass the time).

I'm not the man to comment, because i took a lot off lessons when i started.

The pro became a close friend. and had 1/2 rounds a week with him.

I can Highly recommend you first take some lessons to know the basics off

the swing. You can start self teaching after you know the basics.

Depends on the amount of time you want to spend to improve.  I still have occasional issue with a fat or thin shot, but I know what I did to cause it.  I recommend reading the 5 Simple Keys thread in the Swing Thoughts section.  If you are willing to put in some work, solid contact should not too long to happen.
