My best clubs in no particular order:

Driver, putter, 9i, SW, 4 wood, love the 7i too.  And the LW.  Who could forget the 3H.  8i and PW very good too.

Golf is a game of confidence, right?

This week?  None of them.

Well, maybe the putter.  Always confident with the putter.  The rest of them can go to hell.

The biggest improvement has been my new Tour Edge Exotics XRail 7W. Out of rough, into tight greens, and off tee on 4 holes. Much more reliable than my old 7W.

On my home course, the 7W has helped tame down a headache medium-length par 4. The hole has a stovepipe landing area and hell in front of the green. I now hit a 7W off tee short of the trouble, and follow up with a 7W from a flat lie into the green.

It's great having a go-to long club other than the driver.

My second-favorite club is the 8i: reliable approach club + great on chip and run.

Focus, connect and follow through!

I don't really have one club... I'm really pretty happy with anything from 8 iron down, but my lob wedge gets the most practice so that's the one that I will pick in answer to the question.  It's the club I use inside 60 yards of the green pretty much exclusively and depending on the situation, it is on the short list for "get out of jail" clubs farther out (other option is usually 7 or 5 iron for knock-down shots from under trees).  I also love my putter, but I suspect I give my wedge more latitude for failure so...

Driver: Titleist 913 D2 10.5*, Aldila RIP Phenom 50

Fairway 1: Titleist 913F, 17*, Titleist Bassara W55

Fairway 2: Titleist 913F, 21*, Titleist Bassara W55

Irons: Titleist AP1 714 5-PW, Aerotech Steelfiber i95

Wedges: SCOR 4161 48/52/56/60, Genius 9

Grips: GolfPride New Decade Red Mid-size on all of the above.

Putter: Scotty Cameron Newport 2 - Super Stroke Slim 3.0

I love my 3-wood, as well as all my wedges. Put me inside wedge range and I can usually at least put it on the green.

My other favorite is my 9-iron, which continues a trend for me. I tend to always like the club that I use for the distance my 9-iron currently goes (used to be a 7, then an 8 as I grew older/stronger), regardless of what the number is on the bottom.

    • Hitting some good shots on my golf trip. It's good I can tell when I hit better shots the way I want to swing the ball versus when I use an older swing. Shockingly, the short game has been at worst, not harmful to my game. I am using similar feels to the full swing, in that I try to get my hands down. I've been nipping the ball clean off the turf.
    • I was laid off two months ago. Good severance, a 90 day layoff announcement regulation the company wanted to avoid so technically I'm still on the payroll for a few weeks, and a bunch of banked PTO, so I'm in a great spot and working on a startup idea I've been batting around with my brother for a while. That means I've got time to get to the gym! I'm at like 60-75 minutes 5x a week of strength training, and either a run or a bunch of time playing soccer or tennis with my daughter on the weekends. Stronger than I've been in forever. Up ~5 pounds of (noticeable!) muscle!
