My Swing (Russtopher)

I've been Playing Golf for: 1 year

My current handicap index or average score is: 100-105

My typical ball flight is: fade with irons, slice with driver

The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: slice

Videos:

I've been playing for about a year, and had my first lesson last week. Trying to work on takeaway and standing more upright.

I can already tell from the video that I'm raising up in the backswing, so I need to work on that for sure. Also trying to slide my hips, as I feel like most of my slice problems are from being all arms on the downswing and coming OTT, with very little lower body/hip action.

Vid is in half speed, hitting soft Callaway practice balls with a sand wedge in my backyard, both face on and DTL.

Any tips or advice is welcomed, thank you!!!

I need to learn how to do slow motion. Nice video. I submitted the swing right after this one.

I am not expert enough to give you advice, but damn that was cool how your second ball bounced right back to your pile of balls after hitting the house. Amazing!!!

Good luck with the swing and with golf.

Thanks Randall. I just slowed the videos in Windows Movie Maker before I uploaded them. As far as the balls, it was pure luck! Usually they shoot right over my roof and I end up walking around my front yard trying to find them a1_smile.gif

Since you fade/slice, I checked frame by frame of your club in the down the line view (facing the house). I can see that the club does come "over the top" a bit. The club definitely is moving right to left as it makes impact, so you'll want to figure out how to come at the ball from the inside. I have been through that transition and it can be frustrating. You'll know it's working when your fades turn to draws. The swing has a very different feel, and it can be clumsy at first. Keep at it, and you'll get the feel.

And that's what I need to figure out. From more viewings, it looks like my shoulders are flat, almost like I'm faking the turn and swiping at the ball. I've been really concerned about my weight shift but from looking at the vids I'm wondering if a better shoulder turn would do more for me.

Yah you could turn your shoulders a bit more. One of the aha moments for me earlier this season was getting the feeling of a rotary swing, hips turning shoulders. Before that, I was more "armsy" and had a vertical arm swing feel, with less shoulder turn.
