Where should u focus weight on the feet?

Since im deconstructing things ive been told over the years, here's another question that bothers me since ive been told both to have my weight both ways.

 

Weight on the heels or the balls aka insteps of the feet? Ive done both, i find it more natural to set up on the balls of my feet, yet its more natural to rotate on my heels if i set up from there.

i forgot to mention its like a 70-30 ratio either way. 30 percent on hells 70 on insteps and vice versa.

What's wrong with staying balanced (i.e. 50/50)?

I suspect that this is one of those issues where "feel" is pretty misleading. Tom Watson thinks the weight should be forward on the balls of the feet. Nicklaus was all for balance fore and aft. Hogan thought the weight should be back through the heels. All had great balance - and I'd be surprised if DTL views revealed such dramatic differences in where their balance actually is.

I always like to have it so if someone was going to push me from the front or back i would not topple over easily.

To summarize, "Feel isn't Real". Down the line doesn't. You might find more people lean over, more people stand upright, but most pro's are balanced on there feet. They don't show signs of being a lot on their heels or more on their toes.

A little off topic, but I thought the top of your shoulders, the tips of your elbows, the tips of your knees and the balls of your feet should be in line on normal to the direction of gravity?

This appears to place your weight 50/50 between the heels and the balls, and the body appears to be balanced.

Also, the spine is straight at the 1:00 position?

Again, depends on the golfer, and depends on the club. A wedge, the hands might be closer to the body, which means the elbows are closer. While the driver, the elbows might be farther forward. Look at Furyk versus Rory on the driver. Furyk his elbows are very close to his body. Rory, his elbows are ahead of his shoulders a bit. 

 

But both are balanced in there feet for their swings.

i may go with hogan on this somewhat, since i dont know how much weight he had on the heels.

 

ive been swinging 60 heel 40 instep and i like the feel more and more.
