Hello,

I am a right hander and have been playing a round every alternate day for the past few weeks. As if I did not have enough problems with my swing, I have noticed one more issue. My right forearm is always sore after the round on that day.

Is it normal for golfers to have a sore right forearm if they play everyday or every alternate day ? Or am I gripping the club too hard, swinging with my arms etc. ?

Thanks a lot.

That is strange, I've never had forearm pain.  I hit about 180 range balls and played 18 holes yesterday so when I woke up today my hands were a little bit stiff but that was to be expected from hitting so many balls.  Anyway, right forearm you say?  That doesn't make much sense to me since your right arm should be just riding along on most of your swings.  Are you using your right arm to significantly push the club forward in your swing, like a baseball bat?  If so I'm pretty sure that is bad, especially if you're jamming irons into the ground and sending stingers up your arm.

Is it the forearm, or a little further up....the inside of the right elbow area?  The latter would be symptomatic of "golfer's elbow", a form of tendinitis.

This may or may not be relevant but awhile back I had a similar problem in that my right forearm hurt a little mostly on the lateral just above the wrist joint.  I found that I could relieve the pain by letting go with my right hand about 3/4 of the way down and continue the swing with just the left arm. Believe it or not, it seemed to promote an in to out swing path without sacrificing any accuracy. The only thing I can deduct from that is that it eliminated any sort of right hand turn over/release. Bear in mind, I am not advocating any such move, but it is only an observation that I came across quite by accident. I am quite sure that if I tried that in normal play, it would not last but a hole or two, but then again????    stranger things have happened, new paradigms are discovered every day.

Were at on the forearm? If it is on the outside of the forearm close to the elbow, then its probably a form of tennis elbow. You can buy a compression band. But the only way to fix that is to rest it, ice it. You want to decrease the inflamation of the tendon.

I have/ had the same problem except mine is on the very top about 2 inches down from the elbow on that tendon... I figured it was forearm tendinitis but I was going on a monthlong vacation so hoped it had healed, it did but not entirely, I hope to hear some remedys...
