I don't know about Tiger, but I'm much more accurate swinging a driver at 75% than I am swinging a 3-wood at 110%.
How about hitting into a green from over 200 yards versus hitting a 9 iron?

You just don't know how to play golf yet because you're too young and inexperienced.  Swinging harder is always the answer.

;-)

How is that the choice here? Clearly Tiger has taken the hard driver swing off the table. But if Tiger hits a soft driver 290, he's not hitting a hard 3-wood 340. Probably closer to 290, about the same as that soft driver.

For me at least, I'm going to be much more accurate hitting that soft driver.

I expect to see Tiger completely change his strategy after he reads the advice here- should help to improve his OWGR and get him to 30+ major wins.

I'd rather have 150 in than 200+, but what makes Tiger so good is that his B or C game still places him near the top 10 quite often while others guys have trouble making the cut when not playing well.  For this reason alone, I will refrain from giving Tiger strategy or swing advice.

before he changed his strategy he was winning by 20. He will be almost as accurate if he tried an put his 3 wood down there at least 290. I don't recommend the driver for him because its such  big miss. Then he will have 160 into holes and make birdie much more often

I must have missed those last couple that he won by 20....

Anybody have any idea?

I just went through this season's tournaments and the worst single round by any winner this year was Phil Mickelson with a 74 at the Open Championship.  The worst non-major single round by an eventual champion is Kevin Streelman's 73 at Tampa Bay.

Nothing very exciting about either of those. ;)

He doesn't play aggressive enough. Especially on the par 5s. If I were him I would be swinging much harder off the tee(almost like Stenson), but not hitting driver because he has the driver Yips as is called. He could be hitting 300 yard drives if he swung harder.

Maybe he just looks too smooth for me to tell if hes swinging hard

Ya Stenson got it figured out

You act like this is a new phenomenon.  Recall Hoylake?

The difference, lately, is that people have attributed some recent major failures (2013 Open Championship) to some critical situations where he didn't hit driver, failed to execute and it may have taken him out of realistic contention for a major.  But it's not like he hit driver as often as possible until this season.

Roy McAvoy almost pulled out a US Open win after opening with an 83.

Furyk can't finish anymore. He may not win again.

Love Furyk. He is local to our area, after all. But you are right, and I am glad they went with Spieth for the President's Cup.
