My whole golfing life I always pulled the ball when putting.

Today I noticed I was swinging my putter with my left arm. My right arm wasn't  doing anything.

So I tried swinging my putter with just my right arm. Now all my puts go straight.

It was a simple change, but it took me  30 years to figure it out.

I notice that too, then I few days later my "straight putts " with my right hand motion developed into  a push with my right arm stroke, I reverted back to left hand control  and guess what ... my putts go straight again......in a few days I be pulling my left arm swing putts and start this craziness again

Um...try using both hands in tandem, balanced.

It changes with each day for me. How well I putt depends on how I feel. A stressful day or nasty hangover and anything is possible. What I seeing killing amateurs is lack of routine. They spend time chatting before randomly swiping at one and after missing it they stand over it forever. When that misses they take another rushed stroke without lining it up and often miss again.

Putting has been such a pain in my game that I'm ready to start bringing my pool cue with me and hope that no one notices.

Putting is all about speed/weight and line. Both of these elements are highly dependant on your ability to read the putt. In a money game I'd let you use a pool cue because I don't think it would make lick of difference if your read is wrong to begin with. The pool cue will definitely let you hit your line easier due to the way you sight along a cue but given that your line is wrong anyway, who cares. Also, your line changes (in some cases dramatically) with the speed you choose to hit your putt so it ain't the tool, it's the carpenter.

It's easier to putt with one arm in control I putt better with my right arm in control whether I swing or stroke with my right is the players choice

I find your assessment correct. Ive seen dramatic disappointments in the last six inches of a putt due to poor speed. I am currently working on slowing my putt down. I do not make a good read and leave myself an excruciating six footer coming back. The last time I was out a friend of mine just grinned as I missed a two footer and said It ain't like on T.V. is it? I am going to spend a lot more time on the practice in the future. Thanks for your perspective on the matter.

I've been putting the best in my short 6 years of golf during this past summer due to a similar stroke.  The only difference, even though I will agree that I use a more, right-handed controlling stroke, is that I focus on hitting up, trying to produce the forward roll to find the cup.

Last lesson I had the pro was telling me about how he went to a tournament down in San Diego and was watching Tiger warm up at the putting green and that he watched Tiger stand there and hit like 50 putts in a row from 3-5 feet with only his right arm

if anything my putting is the best part of my game. for only one reason. i knock it close without thinking too much about it. the stroke instruction for putting doesnt help. they say to take it back perfectly and perfectly through. its stupid heres why:

Putting is feel . you have to knock it close. heres a good thought for you:

let go of the stroke. just hit the ball towards the hole. this helped me so much when i learned how to putt. instruction on putting is silly. they make it so complicated. just hit the darn ball. i think it will help.
