I've seen many thread on a slump but not a poll based on experience.  I am starting a poll to see what you think is the best way to end a major slump.

If you know what you're doing is right, then yeah stick to it.  If you have no idea, then I would recommend seeking some help.  Where are you in the Bay Area?  I would recommend Dan Schwabe at Presidio.  It's not necessarily about going back to fundamentals, more of finding the priority piece that will help you play better now.  Also Evolvr is very good, helped a lot of golfers around the world.

Shorten your swing to half, reduce your speed to half, club up one club  Play a couple rounds that way and see what happens.

If your "slump" is about your score then take a vacation from expectations and have a little fun to take the pressure off. If it is because you have no idea what you are doing, get some professional help. If you are burned out, take off a few weeks and come back with a fresh perspective.

I'd say take off a week but if you are like me and can't bring yourself to do that (too addicted), then go back to the basics and get professional instruction if necessary.

I took 5 days off from golf before playing two straight days of 18 hole round.   Although I feel more refreshed after the 5 day break, it didn't help me get out of my slump.   My scores for the two rounds were 102 & 98.   It should have been close to 95 on this course (71.6/131, par 72) if I played to my form.  It's time to get some professional help on ball striking.

After 3 weeks of scores in 100's, and unable to find cause for orthostatic hypotension I was having, I decided to see a chiropractor for my lower back & neck stiffness.   I had two sessions, initial evaluation, adjustment, and short treatments.   After that, I played two rounds of normal golf, scoring 90, 89 (ESC applied) from the same course.  High 80s and low 90s are what I have been playing to before my slump.  I can't say what it is.  Chiro may have been a coincidence and I was overdue for getting out of slump on my own.   Whatever it is, I will take it.

 

I am sure taking a week off is a good thing to do.  In my case, it needed more than that.  Thanks for those who suggested taking time off.

 

 

 

[ When I entered the last score, my GHIN web site (NCGA.org) asked me if I wanted to really post the score b/c it was significantly out of my normal range.   LOL. I chuckled and pressed the "post" button with authority!   ]
