None of the above.

I play the ball that I've found to be the best for my personal game.  If I find one better, I'll switch.

F. I play what I like and feel confident with.

None of the above.

Me as well.  I have lived on golf courses for the past 25 years and I have probably found every golf ball made during those 25 years.  When I go out to play what I call a practice round by myself late in the afternoons, I will hit the balls I normally play and then hit some of the newer stuff that is out that I have found.  As said above, if I find one that is better, I am going to switch.

I presently play ProV1x and Penta 5 (which I still have a couple of dozen left).  They seem to work better for my game based upon playing them.  Not based upon what someone has published that is correct for my handicap, my style of play, or whatever.

E.  Buys recycled golf balls.

I live in a colder climate, so a ProV1 is not the ideal ball for us a good portion of the time, and during that time I will usually play a Bridgestone or whatever I find in the woods.

But, in the warmer part of the year I am completely prepared to admit to being a Titleist junkie. There might be a ball I can get a little more distance or a little less distance sideways out of (if you know what I mean) but nothing compares to a ProV1 coming into the greens, it's just too pleasing. Once you start playing ProV1s for a season, if you switch to something else you have to be constantly aware of the ball you're playing and change your game, and your shot plans.

It's just a completely different experience.

When I am struggling and get tired of losing expensive balls I will switch to cheap ones. Also has the advantage of reducing side spin and helping me crawl out of what ever funk I am in. Slowly I will move back towards a better ball. Ironically just when I think I am ready to switch back, I put a good ball on the tee and it immediately goes in the water or woods. Switch back to cheap ball and play the whole round with it.

I try different balls all the time (find, buy new, and buy used balls).  But I keep to the same ball at least several rounds at a time.  Right now, I am playing with Callaway I series.

Being somewhat new to the game I tend to stick with cheaper balls, but will keep an eye out for fancier ones if they're on sale.  This week for example Top Flite Gamer Tour balls went on sale at Dick's and I picked up a dozen for 20 bucks.  I played a round with them on Sunday and really liked them actually, I plan on getting a couple more boxes if they're still on sale.

This is the closest one to me. I like Titleist, Bridgestone, or Callaway, in that order.

C and E I read that Jack is coming out with 3 proprietary design golf balls, intended for use based on what tees you hit from... assuming people hit from their designated tees based on handicap... may try them out. If I remember correctly they'll be manufactured by Bridgestone.

Yes, they're likely just reformulated (rebranded) Bridgestone balls that they make already, perhaps with slight modifications. Bridgestone does this more than people realize… ;)

He did say they have been working on them for 3 years. Would be a shame if they are just re-branded Bridgestone's. They seemed a bit pricey too... I play a mid-spin ball. Most recently the TopFlite Gamer.v2

I can't get distance balls to stop on partial wedges, or chip shots.

The pro high-spin balls cost me distance (and too much money), and tend to spin off into Left or Right rough most of the time.

Focus, connect and follow through!

C through E so far. I don't feel like there's any reason to spend extra money until I get a nice consistent proper swing down. As far as C goes, I don't go out of my way to look for balls in the woods/bushes.....I just happen to be in them so much that I end up walking out with more golf balls in my bag then when I started :)

A and D, I think when I started playing last year I saw the srixon q star commercials with peter jacobsen and they worked... I do like yellow balls though for visibility.. they seem to me the best cheapest and most widely available yellow balls.. plus about every time I need more I get some kind of package that's 2 dozen plus a hat, a towel + something else usually for under $40 as some sort of promotion LOL.

other than that I'll play any high visibility yellow ball on sale..

    • Thanks for the feedback. @StuM, we are a "club without real estate" so no facilities or pro. We have a membership of around 185 players and we only play together as a group at our tournaments, which are held at public access courses. A group of us setup the tournaments, collect the money and dole out the prizes.
    • In general, granting free relief anywhere on the course isn't recommended.  Similarly, when marking GUR, the VSGA and MAPGA generally don't mark areas that are well away from the intended playing lines, no matter how poor the conditions.  If you hit it far enough offline, you don't necessarily deserve free relief.  And you don't have to damage clubs, take unplayable relief, take the stroke, and drop the ball in a better spot.
    • If it's not broken don't fix it. If you want to add grooves to it just because of looks that's your choice of course. Grooves are cut into putter faces to reduce skid, the roll faced putter is designed to do the same thing. I'm no expert but it seems counter productive to add grooves to the roll face. Maybe you can have it sand-blasted or something to clean up the face. Take a look at Tigers putter, its beat to hell but he still uses it.
    • I get trying to limit relief to the fairway, but how many roots do you typically find in the fairway? Our local rule allows for relief from roots & rocks anywhere on the course (that is in play). My home course has quite a few 100 year old oaks that separate the fairways. Lift and move the ball no closer to the hole. None of us want to damage clubs.
    • Hello, I've been playing a Teardrop td17 F.C. putter for many years and love it. It still putts and feels as good or  better than any of the new putters I've tried and it's in excellent condition except the face has dings in it ever since I bought it used that kind of bother me. I was just wondering if it's possible to have some really shallow horizontal grooves milled into the face on a "roll face" putter. I think I would rather spend some money on it instead of trying to get used to a new putter.  Thanks
