I'm currently looking into buying a new driver.

I swung a Taylormade Burner 1.0 at Sportchek and liked it.  http://www.sportchek.ca/product/index.jsp?productId=18005506

But when I google Taylormade Burner 1.0, I get pics of a black club, unlike the Sport Chek one that is white.

The sportchek one looks like the 2.0.

What's the deal? is the one at Sportchek a re-issue? or is it specially made for sportchek?  any difference between it and the black one?

Yeah the first burner is black, this 1.0 is made for Sportschek.  From what I've heard it's made with cheaper metals.

Thanks for the reply.  Does the cheaper metals significantly reduce the quality of the club?  or is it something that can't be noticed by a recreational golfer?

Seriously, why buy a cheaply made club, you can get a driver for $200 used at your local golf stores, or online at sites like GlobalGolf and they will be superior quality.

Buy a geek golf driver head, (ie FS3 or DCT) take it to a fitter to choose the right shaft and voila! Brand new solid Custom made quality golf club that will last you years...and half the price of the latest model!

Please explain what a "geek driver head" is and how do they differ from all other driver heads.

Look up "geek golf" they make component heads, well known and successful within the long drive community, but not as well known in regular golf, they're solid well made heads, hence the lifetime guarantee, come in all lofts, and are reasonably priced! But they don't make clubs, you have to buy the head then get a shaft to suit ya swing, I did it the start of this year and never looked back, driving is now the strongest part of my game, I can personally recommend the FS3, low spin, very forgiving and the ball just jumps of the face! I've yet to hear a bad report!
