Fat long irons with regular shafts

I prefer regular steel shafts in my irons nowadays, (having previously used stiff for many years, but I'm now 72 !) but whilst I hit them all straight, I have a tendency to hit the long irons "fat" rather too often.  Is the cure simply to put stiff shafts in my longer irons, or has anyone a swing-related answer, please?

I had a problem like that a few seasons ago..not every shot...but maybe 1 or 2 a round or so,, called early extension was the issue I had.. It could be a million things...as all of us are so so different

yea.  I agree with peterich.  We could sit here for days talking about what causes fat shots.  One thing's for sure though, it's the indian and not the arrow.  I doubt your switch to regular shafts is causing fat shots.  You might want to get a lesson or film your swing so you or someone else can look at it.
