Looking for input from players here of their favorite sand bagged stories that I can use on our website.
Years ago I joined the Michigan Amateur Golf Tour (MIAGT). It was a handicapped series of events similar to the Golf Channel's and Golfweek's current programs. As part of the confirmation of handicaps to be used, there was a "qualification" tournament. One of the guys in my 4-some was pretty good. I think we was close to even par through 14 holes when he suddenly couldn't play and finished with several doubles, shooting around "80". Meanwhile, I was doing my best to score around 85.
I sort of wondered what happened to this guy's game that he could lose it so quickly. That is until the first handicapped event, which he won not only on a gross basis but destroyed everyone on a net basis. It took a coupe events before anyone figured out he was not a 10.0 index, at which point he took his winnings and departed the scene.
