Getting my irons fitted

I currently have Nike Ignite irons that I've had for a few years.  They were the set I bought when I first got into golf and bought them straight off the shelf since they were what I could find in stock in left-handed.  Being new tot he sport at that time I had no idea about having them fitted.  I bought them straight off the shelf and learned to play with them.  Now that I'm more experienced and at least know what I'm doing with them, and decided that golf is something I enjoy...can I take these irons in and now have them fitted since I'm used to them and have a decent swing down, OR since they are "old" is it better to upgrade my equipment and buy a new set and have those fitted??  I have no idea how much it costs to have an iron set fitted so just curious if it's worth spending the money on irons that are older and frankly I haven't read a ton of great reviews on these Nike Ignites either so wondering if my game will improve if I buy new irons and have them fitted versus keeping the Ignites and getting those fitted.

You can definitely take them in and have them adjusted to you. Depending on what you need done, it could be fairly inexpensive or you could be better off just buying new sticks. For example, maybe all you need is to have the shafts shortened or lengthened or maybe a have a slight lie adjustment; those things can be taken care of fairly easily; however, if the shafts are way to stiff or soft and you'd need new shafts you might be better off buying new clubs.

My suggestion: Go ahead and get a new fitted set of irons if you must, but HANG ONTO THE IGNITES and KEEP THEM IN STOCK FORM!  Many of us "upgrade" equipment but eventually find ourselves trying to recapture the magic we felt with the old sticks and from there it quickly becomes a voyage into complete club ho-dom.

You can do a lot with older clubs. As long as the lie is good, you can just get them reshafted to get them fit for your swing.

Basically when it comes to golf clubs. The club head will give you forgiveness, offset, lie angle, head weight, visually appealing. The rest is for the golf shaft. So basically you can get fitted for any iron set, but what matters is the golf shaft you put in the club. From there you get a good swing weight, proper loading into the club, proper dynamic loft, feel.
