The cronut is totally overrated. You'll have to pry Sriracha from my cold dead hands though. "If it don't smell, it don't sell!"

Maybe I'll try this.

Gross.

Other than kale I guess I missed it. I had no idea kale was a craze but as expensive as my favorite Kale Krunch is I should have figured it out. Love that stuff.

Kale was big here in 2013 (along with rocket) but I've not heard of any of that other junk.

The Doritos Locos tacos are excessive, and very American in that respect ... but they're not gross.  (At least in relative terms when talking about Taco Bell food.)

Gross, I believe, would be that mac-n-cheese hamburger thing.  Yuck.

And that "quinoa" stuff just makes me laugh because of the NFL commercial where the guy is grilling it at the tailgate because he thinks it helps his team win.  LOL!

Kale is utterly disgusting.

I have had Quinoa.  It is a lot like couscous.  I love that NFL commercial with the guy grilling the Quinoa burger. Sriracha rocks!  It has been around for a long time though.

Hadn't heard of any of the pastry fads, but I'm not really a pastry guy.  The Doritos Dos Locos taco has been a huge hit; I've never had one, but I'm not a Taco Bell guy, as I prefer real taco joints, which are usually just as cheap as Taco Bell anyway.

I do love kale.  A farmer's market I used to frequent when I lived in Hawaii had a kale poke nacho thing that was really good.  They called it a sushi slider, but it was just a ball of fried kale with a scoop of ahi poke on top.  Yumm.

Mac-n-cheese burgers are freaking awesome if you don't give a crap about your cholesterol level. @Golfingdad you are nutz.

The rest of it looks pretty ho-hum to me (except for Sriracha of course, but that's nothing new).

Yeah real tacos or nothing for me. There are five or more taco places within walking distance of my office with prices in the .99-1.60 range. Though the best are the off the grid places. In Brighton CO some of the best "restaurants" are people serving food from their home kitchens. That's the fad here. They do it on the weekends so the city doesn't bust them.

Taco Taco was one of our favorites when we lived in SA. One of the best taco places I've ever been to.

Come to think of it the fad here was restaurants putting a spin on "authentic" tacos. Quite a few popped up in the last year. Below is a menu sample. I ate there once it was pretty good.

Stella’s Pork Carnitas slow cooked pork shoulder in Stella Artois over smoked gouda sweet potato mash with pineapple habanero salsa
Marinated Fish daily fish selection marinated in serranos and lime with orange jalapeño slaw and the business
Arrachera grilled skirt steak over refritos with roasted onions, pico de gallo, house crema and cotija
Camerones a la diabla spicy shrimp over jalapeño grits with pico de gallo, avocado, lime, house crema and cotija
The Sirloin Situation slow cooked sirloin in Negra Modelo over smoked gouda sweet potato mash with roasted onions and house crema
Chorizo and Red Onion Escabeche over roasted garlic mash with salsa verde, house crema and cotija
