So today i was in a used sporting goods store and found a taylormade rossa daytona 1 in prime condition with a super stroke 1 in grip on it....problem is i have a brand new nickent omen tour series 2 putter. Regardless i couldn't pass up this deal for the rossa ( it was 30 dollars) and went ahead and bought it. My question is does anyone else out there have a backup putter which my nickent is now going to be? LOL please help me to feel better about my purchase

Welcome to the dark side, where you more and more often come out of the store with clubs you didn't intend to buy. I have a closetful of putters and the rest.

I had a Ping iWi Anser putter which had a full toe-hang and pushed all my putts so I bought a face-balanced Ping iN 1/2 WackE and got on great with it initially al but for the 'skitter' of the ball on longer putts which I found annoying.

A while later I saw a great deal on a Yes! Calli so I bought it for the "true roll" (or whatever they phrase the semi-circle on the face) to try and eliminate the skittering. I forgot about the whole "push" issue with toe-hang I'd had.

One day I tried out a club member's milled-face putter and fell in love with it so I shelved the iN and bought myself a Bettinardi BC2 which I had cut down to 32" and a grip weight put in to balance it. My weapon of choice for a long time!

Recently I've revamped my putting stroke completely to try and shave a couple of shots and it required a full length shaft again so I bought a Mizuno MP A305 a few weeks back.

At that point I realised there would be no need to have all these random putters hanging around with different lengths, different weights, different toe-hangs so I gave the iWi Anser to my granddad, I gave the Yes! Calli to my brother in law and the others I wasn't using I chucked on eBay.

My name's Dave and I've been "clean" for several weeks and I feel great! ;)

I had 6 putters but had a contest between them and kept the one that won the contest and sold all the rest.

P.S. The one that won the contest was the cheapest, but it won fair and square.

You don't have a problem, no way. Not until you have a room in your house that looks like one of the ones below. I'd take a photo of my own collection, but it's all over the place and messy and divided among multiple locations and pales in comparison. Anytime you think you're doing some thing slightly excessive, there are people out there who take it to a whole new level.

I don't really think of it as my "back up" putter but I did keep my old Carizma Beethoven Rolloaded when I bought my Yes. I don't consider my self a club ho (not yet anyway) but I do tend to keep everything so maybe I'm a club hoarder.

I have just one now, a Mizuno/Bettinardi BC6.  It is set up identical to my Scotty Newport Beach but is a bit lighter in the head weight.  I gave my Ping to my son.

Every putter except my Edel is a "backup" putter. Except they're not "backups" because they'll never get back in the bag.

I like brass putters, so I have a few brass putters just because they arent really made anymore.  For the most part, every time I come across a brass Mizuno putter on Ebay thats in good shape I pick it up because they are somewhat hard to find.

Every now and then even the best putter needs a little "time-out" in the dark cabinet in the garage, just to keep them motivated to perform at their best.

I recently purchased a Nike Method MC03 putter, which is only the second putter I own. I have been playing a Scotty Studio Select Newport 2 for a few years now and have been struggling with it recently. I like the mallet because of the heavier weight. Yes, I could have switched the weights on the Scotty, but I wanted an excuse to buy a new putter ;-) . Also, sometimes a new look can sometimes be helpful.

Best Regards,
Ryan
