My Swing (frikkif)

Hi

I have been playing for about 8 years and my handicap is 17-ish.

I know there are numerous faults with my swing.  :/

But the most destructive of the lot is my head & body movement towards to the ball on the backswing.

I can feel the balance shift forward but I can’t seam to fix this.

In the attached videos I was hitting the ball fairly straight.

But often I shank the ball vigorously.

Please help me.

This is literally driving me crazy! :(

Many thanks,

Frikki

Not sure why you think your head goes down on the backswing.  Looks pretty darn steady.

Here would be the priority pice imo  Hands work outward, club head rolls in.  So the way the hands are moving away from you probably gives you the "off balance" feel.

I would feel more "Rickie Fowler" on the takeaway.  You can exaggerate this feel for a while.

Would also recommend you flare out both feet to help with the pivot.  Your knees are rotated inward, left knee collapses inward and limits the amount you can turn on the backswing.  Also makes it harder to get the weight forward at impact.  Right pic: knees are neutral here, might feel "bowed out".  Both feet are turned out about 20*.  Allows you to utilize the proper linkage of the knees to create a dynamic hip turn and transfer more weight forward on the downswing.

Many thanks for your great advice Mike. This makes lot of sense. :-)

Regarding my head movement comment in my post; This image shows what I was referring to.

I gotcha.  Yeah the knees at address, being "bowed out" a bit will help with the pivot/knee linkage, you'll be able to turn that right hip deeper.

Great.

I will try this out on the range.

Thanks again for your help.

Best regards,

Frikki
