My fiance is an average 5'6". We are looking for a good set of clubs for her. We are both happy with my clubs which are the Nicklaus V-18 Set but they aren't the right size for her (you can see my set here http://www.nicklaus-golf.com/jacknicklaus/mv18.php ).

Is there a similar set to this that is quality and a complete set? Mine cost about $250. Oh, and most clubs for women are completely ugly, we would like to avoid that. And what is the difference between getting short clubs for men than similarly sized clubs that are labeled as for a woman?

Ladies' shaft flex is much much softer than your regular flex club and that's the biggest difference

Is that a good thing that actually benefits women?

You may want to try the Adams Idea OS2 if you want a good quality set. You also may want to check the Nickent Goddness as it also is a very good quality set. The difference in the womens and mens clubs will be the length, swing wts. and shaft flex. My sister uses mens clubs (an avid golfer) while my wife uses womens clubs (a casual golfer) If you are that happy with the Nicklaus set why not get the womens set they have on their web site? It will not be as high of quailty as the above sets but should work just fine if she likes the appearance.

Those are nice but like I said were are looking for something around the $250 range and those are both way past that.

With the others too expensive , I would then go to ebay and get the Tommy Armour womens hybrid set which appears to be able to be had for around $200. Armours have always benn good quality for starters and more.

I would if they offered one. The one they offer on the site is not comparable to mine, it's more expensive. They don't offer a simple "Ladies" model of my set.

a few years ago i had a set of Tigershark lady's clubs to fill the gap between junior & regular clubs. they cost around $200 and worked good until the shaft became too soft.

Awesome, thank you very much! This set has a warranty, is only $200, and seems well reviewed wherever I can find it:

http://www.amazon.com/Ladies-Right-T...7460960&sr;=1-3 The strange thing is I haven't heard of the company and not many people carry their product but I'm just about sold on them...and my fiance likes the way they look.

There's a LOT of ladies offering's that are very affordable....the only thing I'd recommend is getting her a driver at LEAST 16 *.....almost all womens club sets come with a 12* driver, which is absurd.

Why would they do something like that? Seniors should have plenty of money.

How about the RAM's set for women for about $130 from Target. Three girls from my golf classes used this set to learn the game. That Adams one noted above looked good too if that's the same Adam's golf company as the one that does the Idea and Tight Lies sets.

I've heard from a ton of people that the head has flown off of their driver. Way too many for me to feel comfortable having her use those. Even after replacement sets, and some after only a few hits.

That's a nice set, from the description. My sister started off with a $200 cheap Dick's-brand golf set and loved it... she recently upgraded with a new driver and a custom iron set because she's gotten REALLY good. But anyway, good luck to your wife I hope she enjoys the game.
