Hello. I have NEVER been able to maintain a swing from shot to shot, I always change something.

I think this may partially be because I don't have such a great swing, even when it is fairly consistent, so even when I am, I still don't see good results. If anyone saw my other topic, which still holds true, by the way, I suck at driving, accuracy wise. My iron play is decent, my chipping is good, and my putting could get better, although that can get better with mere practice.

My question is, should I get lessons? Is there any way for a teacher at my local range or Golfsmith or Golf Galaxy to teach me swing consistency? I know that they can fix my driving, I only mentioned that because I may go to them for that as well.

Thanks.

My consistency sucks also, ive just started out and my swing technique is quite bad, although i do find that some of my shots seem to be perfect with a nice straight drive then the next one will be sliced left

i really need to work on my drive, im also thinking of having lessons, many golfers ive talked to have told me to get some lessons in the bag so its seem the right decision

It's really you're call. My mom made me take a few lessons this year when I started playing alot, just to give me some sort of a foundation. Basically I now have a correct grip, and a somewhat more on plane iron swing, but the rest for is trial and error. I emmulate what pro's do on tv, I watch Playing Lessons with the Pros alot, and read on the forums. I think for the type of golf I want to play I can teach myself enough, and with practice will improve. If I get to the point where I think lessons would take me to another level, I'd give them another go.

3-Wood: XLS

    • Day 35, June 8. Before leaving for work this morning (yes, I'm posting this quite late relative to the practice), I spent 15 minutes practicing at home, into a net.  This time, it was primarily 9-iron (full swings), with some UW (full and half) and a few 6-iron.
    • Day 73: just some mirror work today. Working on feels for being open and getting the front shoulder down.
    • I'm liking this. Finally getting down hands in front of my trail leg pocket consistently at A6 with much better clubhead position (relatively not as tipped out). I can really pressure the shaft through impact with good face control  from this position and stay in balance. Won my first one v one march 5&4 against a 4 hcp who routinely drives it 35-40 yards past me in the men's club match play . Frustrated him with some solid iron play and air tight putting.
    • Day 279 6-8  Worked on low point control skills work tonight. will be doing this for a few weeks. Tonight was just trying figure out how to get low point forward.  No ball.
