Lie adjustment question

Isn't the club a bit more upright through impact than at address? And doesn't the shaft bend in such a way as to exaggerate this a little? So wouldn't you WANT a club that rests more on the heel than in the middle of the sole at address? I've never been fitted in person. Do live fittings base lie angle recommendation on a snapshot of the clubhead through impact, shot dispersion, or how the clubhead rests at address? Basically, I'm looking to put together a set from components and want to know if I should let the retailer bend the heads based on an accompanying height/wrist-to-floor chart, or assemble them as-is and then go to a place like Golfsmith to be fitted for lie and have them bend the finished clubs.

Lie angle at address has little to no bearing on the lie angle at impact. A fitter will have you hit balls on a lie board (basically just a piece of plexiglass) with impact tape on the sole to mark the bottom of the club at impact. Assemble them as-is, then go to Golfsmith and get fitted.

But to answer your first questions, yes it seems like like angle at setup is often flatter than lie at impact. I thought I needed my irons bent flat because the toe was up at address, and based on "charts", and should need flat lies in my irons based on my measurements. However, after getting fitted, I actually needed my irons bent 2 degrees upright . Proof that a good fitter is invaluable.

Good advice from geaux.

Also, the GolfWorks club academy cautions against putting too much stock in fingertip-to-floor or height/wrist-to-floor measurements. These can give you rough advice when first considering clubs, but they don't take into account your stance, or the clubhead position at impact. Anyone who tries to use these two as the primary measurement for selecting clubs, without having you hit shots, is an unskilled and/or lazy fitter.

      Fair   My uneducated thought: the big miss is the penalty area. If you want to optimize score, missing into the bunker (likely 5) is better than missing right into the penalty (possible 6). With that, your strategy seems sound and if you hit a committed shot, you get a bunker 5% of the time, take your medicine and hopefully get a putt for par but accept bogey. You may find yourself in a penalty situation 2-3% of the time and accept the associated outcome. The vast majority of the time though you are giving yourself a good approach shot into the green.

      I walk 30 mins a day on my lunch break. It is not very intense (since i dont want to get sweaty in my work clothes), so just a touch above leisurely. 3 days a week I walk on the treadmill for 60 mins. I alternate the incline from 4 to 10 for a couple minutes, once every ten minutes. I lift my kettlebells nearly everyday. I have a couple complex routines. I find just 15 minutes and my heart rates is elevated
