If this story turns out to be legit (and it seems to me it is) this guy has to be the toughest man alive.

True, but seriously that is all the beard he could grow in 14 months...pathetic. ;-)

If it does turn out to be true it is an amazing story.  Seems a bit sketchy though right now.

Water water everywhere, nor any drop to drink......

It's a fishing boat, so presumably he had equipment and some skill at fishing.  Water is the question.  14 months is a helluva long time to have to rely on rain and/or turtle blood for water.

For anyone interested in 2 very good, verified survival at sea stories, I recommend The Raft, by Robert Trumbull and Adrift, by Steven Callahan.  The true stories of 34 days and 76 days adrift respectively puts the claim of 14 months into perspective.  Maybe not impossible, but.......

Yea, I want to believe it, but I dunno. He looks way too well fed and plump for a guy who just spent 14 months lost at sea. I hope I'm wrong. But 14 months of malnourishment can cause a person to lose an insane amount of weight. And I apologize profusely to the guy if it is proven without a doubt that his story is true... or that his appearance is the result of some medical condition brought on by the ordeal.... but for a guy who should be borderline starving to death out there, he looks a bit too chubby for me to believe this 100% yet.

His health is declining.  What may look like body fat could actually be swelling due to dehydration.

Yea it very could be. Regardless of the truth, hopefully he pulls thru.

It would be awful to survive 14 months at sea and then die after getting back to land.
