I live in Oregon, and sometime I may be golfing in 35 degree weather, while it is raining. So I know footjoy has the wintersof and rainsof gloves, so I would love to use the wintersof for the cold, but will they also work in the rain? Has anyone used them in the rain before? Also I know mizuno makes the Thermagrip gloves, that supposedly work in rain, but are they the best gloves? And I would like to be able to try the gloves on before I buy them, so hopefully they are carried at golfsmith or some sort of retailer, but if not I can probably figure it out. For reference I wear a Nike Medium-Large glove and it fits perfectly. Thanks guys

I have a pair of footjoy winter gloves which I like fairly well for comfort but not for golf. I find them too thick to get a proper secure grip, so I usually stick them in my pockets with hand warmers in between shots and grip the club bare handed, even in the low 30s. My brother bought snake eyes winter gloves for a few bucks less and they have a tacky pattern on them that afford a decent grip in wet conditions and they are a bit thinner, but not as warm. The footjoy ones have a nice soft suede material in the palm and fingers, but they don't grip that well and in wet conditions they get soaked.

Rain gloves, I prefer the nike all weather 2. Very much a second skin and very lightweight, they have the best grip of any gloves I've used of any kind. Their fit is a bit tight however and they have a couple seams that can chafe if you have lady hands. As someone who only uses gloves in adverse conditions, I have enough callouses to deal with it. They do stretch nicely and I prefer a bit tight over too loose.

    • I kind of like this interpretation especially if you think about it the unplayable rule would probably put you in a better spot.  using back on the line releief.
    • I did not realize that, I was thinking a more traditional golf club.
    • Thanks for the feedback. @StuM, we are a "club without real estate" so no facilities or pro. We have a membership of around 185 players and we only play together as a group at our tournaments, which are held at public access courses. A group of us setup the tournaments, collect the money and dole out the prizes.
    • In general, granting free relief anywhere on the course isn't recommended.  Similarly, when marking GUR, the VSGA and MAPGA generally don't mark areas that are well away from the intended playing lines, no matter how poor the conditions.  If you hit it far enough offline, you don't necessarily deserve free relief.  And you don't have to damage clubs, take unplayable relief, take the stroke, and drop the ball in a better spot.
    • If it's not broken don't fix it. If you want to add grooves to it just because of looks that's your choice of course. Grooves are cut into putter faces to reduce skid, the roll faced putter is designed to do the same thing. I'm no expert but it seems counter productive to add grooves to the roll face. Maybe you can have it sand-blasted or something to clean up the face. Take a look at Tigers putter, its beat to hell but he still uses it.
