I am looking at a set of G15 irons used (9/10 condition) 4-pw for $150 or a new set of speedblade irons 4-A for $450. Both have stiff shafts (AWT for G15, speedblade 85). I like the feel and shot shape of both when hitting off of a mat outside. My question is do you think the technology in the speedblade over the G15 is worth the extra $300?

I wouldn't worry about whether the technology is better.  Go with the one you hit better.  If you hit them the same, go with the one you like better.  If you still can't decide, go with the cheaper set.  But either way, make sure to get fitted.

I thought the speedblades kind of blew. Personally I'd get the Pings, then buy a lesson, a dozen balls, a round of golf, and either a set of grips or a nice bottle of scotch. Maybe I'd pay the extra money for a players iron if it weren't the speedblades and it had a good set of shafts, but I thought Ping's stock shafts were better. For a set to get better with, you can't go wrong with the Pings.

Both are fit to the specs I got from golfSmith (so take that for what it's worth). White dot +1/2 inch for ping, 3* upright +1/4 inch for the speedblade. I'm leaning toward the G15 for the reasons Lucious mentioned. I would have to regrip the pings as I don't like the stock ping grips.

After a couple of sessions at the range I went with the pings. Not a huge fan of how big the sole is but I hit them alot better than speedblade. I went ahead and regripped them (as well as the rest of my bag) with black widow, widow maker multi compound grips and picked up a ping iwedge 52* to replace my ping tour U wedge.

Congratz on your new to you Ping clubs.

I'm gonna be getting new irons in a few months, and was eyeing the Ping I25's, although the guy that might be fitting me is trying to talk me into SGI, i.e. G25's..so we'll see. Anyhow have fun with them.

Compared to the g15's the g25's look like blades. It's going to take me a while to get used to how wide the sole of the g15's are.
