How does playing on frozen ground damage the course? I'm not doubting you, just asking because I don't know.

couple of ways. when it does thaw a bit on top it will cause root shearing. when its frozen you are mashing the crown of the plant into rock hard soil. think of the crown as a grape and the soil is a hardwood floor. step on the grape and see what happens. same thing happens to the crown.
